Right so, been a hectic and stressful weekend working on this bloody thing,

had the mot today which it passed with advisories being a tyre close to limit on one side and rear wheel bearings having slight play which was a relief

due to the hassle I've had

so put a a full new lowering kit on, rears being a doddle only took me about an hour and half

then we have the fronts, nightmare

first of all offside trackrod, decided to start spinning as i was undoing it from the strut so had to disconnect it from steering rack, managed to get it off

ordered the new part and two days of getting the wrong part from a s**t local supplier had to put it back on anyway, the new one i got secondly had the track rod end upside down and as it being crimped in and a bend in the arm, well i need say no more, so that will be taken back haa!

then undoing and taking out the shocks was fun, had to get some heat on them and some big grips :unibrow:

and the shocks were well stuck in so they took some hammering to get out

thats the easy part, then comes the anti roll bar blocks.. wowww! i became very pissed off haa, wouldnt line up properly on the nearside, so stressful and it took forever trying to do it by myself so had to get the father to lend a hand! ohh and put my stainless manifold back on,

so after the essay heres some pictures :)

so first the rears

DB9293B1-A5EC-4D57-A4E8-D24E23B1F8AD-105

set them 60mm may go lower once theyve settled

2171770D-6F23-4C8D-AC8E-B47639CE16AA-105

new vs old

01EB5D40-6648-4BC1-A3D1-E31DAE27B587-105

strut housing, not bad really

C7880231-9CC5-4905-AF60-E1854A6DA050-105

fitted

50B2DB28-E775-46F1-ABD0-B3A9ED5B71FD-105

now the pesky track rod end

EDB7FB28-07F9-40AD-BEBA-BD3DF93BA47E-105

ended up grinding a slit in the top to hold it with a screwdriver

9A88AD4B-D976-4668-BEBF-6063F73EE514-105

so front shocks and springs with new top mounts

30F343E2-45E8-4BBB-BC51-9AB43488917A-105

this was nearside, remains of the top mount

309D8BBC-F6A4-4762-8DFB-E6F08F30A06C-105

had no photos of getting the old struts out, just forgot but new ones fitted here

2E239A1F-3685-48C5-B0E4-34A1350FA85B-105

near side fitted :)

663638F9-678B-405D-8BC1-09E9C82E81FE-105

offside built up

36BCE50A-00F8-47E0-9B05-D36F7CC69047-105

feeling sorry for itself on my drive

BE79564C-C651-4FBF-B146-6B2EB96D5A6F-105

offside on

287CEEE3-1914-42D3-B41D-B1012B0E55A7-105

offering up arb

20E72848-B06A-443E-93AC-5D65FF5F8FE3-105

new blocks and fitted after an eternity of stressing

A3BD7E10-1F97-4FC4-8F35-31889D64C0AB-105

479F2719-FD03-49D6-AB62-3A2B72AD5B64-105

so thats all for now photo wise

i have a suspicious feeling the near side chassis leg may be out of line slightly :/ maybe why the blocks were so hard to fit

as i tighting up the struts while it was jacked up top mount didnt seat properly so top capped were knocking, so undid them again while it was sat down and moved the strut about as muched as i could, tightened them back up and all is well

the rest of g40 door cards will be fitted when i can and the car will be machine polished and mirror stalks sprayed satin black

Thanks for reading my essay :)

So decided i'd sort my exhaust out as id only quickly got it on for mot and was rattling and doing my head in

so had it all off cleaned all the old putty off the joins and re-lined it up, gave the back box and tail pipe a clean as well

834DE228-399B-4809-819B-9B90BCFE9AA8-145

needs a polish too

C54D340E-87B9-416A-B0E4-B321F5A6F8BE-145

as it was while working on it and the chrome strip in the back bumper :)

Things to do: hopefully within the next couple of months and long term plans

few little bits of painting to be finished on wing mirrors, got to put one more door card in, and slam panel to be done

Re-seal rocker cover to start
6n strut top caps
new wheel bearings all round
complete new steering arms,
refurb steering rack
steam clean engine bay
Camber shims on rear
Refurb ATS classics and get them back on
Heat shield above the exhaust
Shot blast powder coat and fit g40 callipers, get discs and green stuff pads for them, braided hoses as well? (Recommendations on hoses?)
stealth shelf not sure how I'm going about it yet,
G40 boot carpet instead of the poverty spec one
washer bottle moved to boot
perhaps single wiper conversion
new rear screen and new windscreen seal

In the long run:
Gt conversion, i will completely strip rebuild the engine when i get my hands on one and when I've got the money, cams ported polished gas flowed head and inlet lightened balanced flywheel and crank
and coilovers, and being really ambitious air ride
want recaros re-trimmed as well, bentley cross hatch centres, when i win the lottery haa!

so there alot of work to do yet

Thanks smile.gif

E75CF66D-8CA6-4BAB-BE75-719CBE1AF627-239

now they sit nice and flush with the turret

AFF5CE18-504D-4CA3-AB1B-33F05B1E4370-239

then gave it a wash and polished all the glass, came out well

Done a few little bits and something terrible has happened! not happy

well firstly, this is a little annoying

19225311-0D85-4EF4-BE34-2C9EE4EFEAAF-252

foam in the seat is knackered, so stripped my old genesis rears

37448E04-B146-4231-A202-9DFAF88CBB3F-252

6311E271-26E7-4789-BFFF-D16476851CBD-252

8B47BBEB-76E9-4FD6-BCD6-92BE0BF669D6-252

need to get a photo of them back in but they look alot better, got rid of the headrests too as i dont like the look of them

next up hella clear indicator lenses, after a good soak and a clean

9645FD3F-D78C-42AE-B62E-7C43907376A6-252

comparing to the depo ones which leak

EEDF8016-4A1B-4EC6-B982-695102AC7331-252

got the chrome strip put on the front bumper finally

474FFE21-41FD-45C4-A469-28AFB3B7D633-252

and hella clear lenses in

B94270B4-3139-46BD-AB58-728D773AEB2F-252

then some prick at work has done this too my door, chipped and dented right on the swage line, whole door is going to have to be sprayed again,

worst of all someone has done it and moved their car and not owed up to it so still trying to find the culprit as they will be paying for it.

EEF31B7E-8EF8-4F45-B7DE-DD080F810485-252

Nice project mate, shame about the door just touch it in for now don't keep looking at it and get them classics on!!!

nankang toursport 165/55 pretty decent tyre to be fair, apparently quite soft to so should be sticky :p

done a few little thigns recently, been washing her every few days with this good weather, going to have the door sorted and whole car flattened and polished next week while I'm away.

so after A clean lol

1CC13168-78AE-4B02-891C-C979A365D78C-434

E9C5FEBD-9F22-4387-BDEE-F33A5CB98564-434

Exhaust manifold gasket decided it would disintergrate and it was blowing like a bitch

E9C5B4FA-E316-4203-B0B6-5CD921D3474F-434

so new one fitted

B5523447-4B06-4128-8E98-B08FE98FE672-434

this is currently how the bay is looking, bit messy need to tidy up some wiring, maybe 6n cover but not too keen on them really

6E8D1CE8-2343-4BBB-8A49-249AC8E5D952-434

Bit of rust where air filter was rubbing so sanded it down

6E8D1CE8-2343-4BBB-8A49-249AC8E5D952-434

down to bear metal then just primered around it for now, gonna have the bay painted when i eventually convert it, hopefully end of this month!

1A3EBB88-C6C5-4A4B-817C-3179966031AE-434

Cleaned the filter, needs cleaning properly with the k and n cleaner and oil

209F30DD-37A0-478F-83E5-3B3211DC3263-434

i stuck a foam sticky pad underneath it to stop it from rubbing again!

209F30DD-37A0-478F-83E5-3B3211DC3263-434

then moved my cold air feed so it was actually doing something again

D6FF3F38-6DEE-42C2-A768-E4F9BED64EFB-434

fronts in the sun all polished

74023B4B-FAE6-4EC7-8B88-AE897037D0CA-434

then on monday i picked up these beauties, pretty much brand new 8j classics for the rear just a slight mark on one

ordered the tyres today to be fitted monday, will be running nankangs all round, word of advice, if you like to save money on fuel dont buy nankangs haha! there second highest for fuel consumption, not a great move really but as they say! YOLO :p
