So been a while, couple of months ago i found a whole in my passenger footwell :(

but this has since been cut out and a new inner and outer skin welded in, need to get a pic of it since been done

bought a second hand windscreen seal as mine was knackered and kept leaving me puddles in my passenger footwell, which is what probably caused the hole,

so windscreen out

and to add to this, about a month ago, some w**ker down a narrow lane decided he wanted some more room, after passing a car in front of me and smashed into my mirror, just drove off! so now smashed glass and needs repainting again, still not had it sorted

on the plus side, bought a 280mm momo team steering wheel with a boss that i didn't like and it wasn't too great, didn't cancel indicators, and the horn was pants as well, but i picked it up for 60 quid and a tenners worth of fuel so couldn't complain as it was in immaculate condition

so ordered genuine momo boss and carbon effect horn from demon tweeks, got it fitted and it looks 10 times better with the boss and the horn and indicator cancel works properly.

new boss :)

old one behind it,

got it fitted

then fitted the new horn, looks much better imo

FF55C0DA-9787-4B5A-BF9D-5C7F7A8F24A3_zps

also front near side wheel bearing has been whirring for months so thought i better change it

this was a tw*t to get off the hub

DC9471EB-B4AF-4FE3-83DB-04F5AC41C7B5_zps

been looking at getting some parts dipped in carbon effect, its quite cheap really for what its worth, more likely interior plastics, just for something a bit different

maybe some parts for the bay as well

moving out of the rents house soon so money will be a bit tighter so its going to take some saving to get what i want done

thanks for looking :)

Got a new fuel tank fitted last week as it was literally like a stream when i put more than 15 quids worth in :/ not good, had a family friend do the work as the weather has been so bad, and its a pain in the backside without a ramp, the filler neck just snapped off when they took it off the car thats how bad it was! the new/second hand one was all cleaned, sanded down and rust proof painted before it went on,

going to start getting ready for the shows soon, needs a good clean and polish after all this rain

It's been a while since i updated, bits have happened, parts have been bought, and i had a little incident, and someones hit my car and drove off, the joys of cars.
new bits going on and more paint has been postponed due to other things, festivals and track days are expensive. also been too busy working and having it MOT'd.

so I'm just going to go through what I've been buying and whats been going on picture by picture, hopefully may keep some people interested

so first off, i bought a new gear knob, and had to recut the thread on the gear lever as a previous owner had decided to cut it down rather poorly with a hacksaw i imagine, so i just got a die and die stock from work and away i went.

and heres the result

644D1E1A-46A5-4E58-B269-0085112301E2_zps

a few bits that I'm going to have dipped, and new speaker covers as the old ones had been sprayed and looked shabby

9082D981-AD6B-4BD7-93C9-22C4B62D30D5_zps

i also ever so slightly flared the rear arches just to help stop the rubbing, i didnt want to completely get rid of the factory swage line, and no i didn't do this with a baseball bat or anything stupid like that i used a roller as thats my second job so was no issue, these polo's are a idiot to roll and flare though because of the holes in the lips for the arch trims.

then i thought my selector had gone, turns out there are two pieces of plastic round a bush to hold part of the shaft in place, so i stripped and cleaned the whole thing and put it back together and problem solved, as i couldnt select 1st or second without ramming it in.

this part here the two bits clipped around the bush then i had to squeeze it back in

in to this then into the selector box or whatever you want to call it

Then... this happened, long story short, i was kinda in a rush, behind some mong at a junction they pulled out i looked and followed turned round they had slammed there breaks on and i hit their right rear quarter, barely any damage to her and this to mine, was only going about 5mph but a split second of her hesitating when i was checking the road was clear, wasnt happy but shit happens, but i hit them so nothing could really be done :(

9615A198-B5F2-441E-A034-AED8AD934A67_zps

then my seat broke a couple of weeks later, so i was pretty much sitting on the floor,

D5A792FF-30D7-467F-9D33-43CA735F8BAC_zps

managed to source a new ebay part, which was actually better quality and i had to take the seat to bit which took a bit of fiddling

just checking it was the right size

all the bars swapped over

and all fitted and a comfy seat again

FE401FC7-6D0D-4CA8-A118-E02EC1070930_zps

then someone on my road did this, drove off, it pulled the bumper half off as well and broke the clips below the grill, wasnt happy again!

E2FF0CD3-332E-4C31-90B3-AF03CBB13E1C_zps

then i started buying more new bits, brand new vwII callipers

86E8A9A9-CA57-4071-A6E4-FEFAE64EA427_zps

new MTEC drilled grooved and vented discs

1F6B95E2-48B0-41ED-801D-A984644BCCE0_zps

the callipers are being painted then will be fitted, and the wing will be replaced and then the side of the car sprayed etc, at the same time ill get the brake carriers sprayed :) oh and new febi bilstein top mounts, which are ten times better quality to past ones I've had, no movement in the bearings what so ever compared to some cheaper ones.

So time for a long awaited update, though there isnt too much to go by,

firstly the wing got replaced finally, the whole side resprayed as well as the front bumper.

I wasnt happy with the way the bumper was sitting so i had it off, the attachment points for under the bumper were slightly bent, and the points at the top of the bumper were all broke so i think a bit of plastic welding will need doing at some point, also the brace bar was loose for some reason so i tightened that up.

8282DD86-683F-4533-8877-C3EAA2830C96_zps

got the blocks and TCA's on, and i also put new FEBI top mounts on.

next up brakes.

Cleaned up the Carriers, ideally they need powder coating, but this can be done whenever as the cars off the road at the min,

C2A7ED61-DF7A-4841-8B29-E524F742CD6B_zps

got the new discs and pads on, using feredo pads.

Got the hoses on the Caliper

85770BEB-C0CE-4B8E-BACA-ACC4C3AF096B_zps

Braided hoses on the rear need doing but the brake lines need replacing as well so this will have to wait a while, slow progress at the moment but more to come. still plenty to do.

Thanks for reading
