Corrado VR6

Featured Replies

Yeah saw it on Piston heads mate :)

I'm now on the look out for a 1.8 16v Corrado! really need one of these in my life lol.

Looks nice Jon!, Cant see why you'd want a 1.8 16v i've driven a few for mates and they wouldnt pull your foreskin back ....

Because that's all I can insure for the time being. Would have it as a 1.8 16v for a year, then I have plans for an engine conversion ;) that's why i'd get a 1.8 16v ^.

Get a Mk2 Golf 16v, imo better to have the top spec of something instead of the lowest.

I don't want a mk2 golf though aha. Plus the Corrado would only stay a 1.8 16v for about a year ;)

See where you're coming from though, however i've already got an engine lined up aha.

Cheers for that boys

So, stuff to sort

Replace ABS module

Figure a fix on the clocks (some bugger has helpfully glued the plug in the back of the clocks, but not far enough in to make a good connection, clocks are fine I think, just got to work out if can remove the glue and replace the loom from clocks to fuseboard)

Replace intake manifold temperature sensor

Wheels (mk3 rocco fanblade reps in a 16x7.5 flavour)

Suspension (leaning towards a manual valve air system at the moment i.e. all drop at the same time, less complicated and less to go wrong)

Respray!

Having a wavier in wheel decision, found some polished TH monos with tyres for £550, a set of 8 and 9 banded beetle steels with tyres for the same or the mk3 rocco fanblade reps....can't decide!

Probably going to go coilies instead of air as can't afford that and a respray!

Havn't noticed a Corrado on fanblade's before.

Wanna swap cars jon? haha

Congratulations on that dude. One of the best cars of all time. I had one for some 11 years and loved every single mile of driving it.

They handle best on 16's and front brakes are ok but better with 312mm audi TT discs and callipers.

Other than that, stock wipers are rubbish and a great mod is the lupo gti wipers.

They sound awesome with a nice K&N induction kit and Magnex stainless system also looks and sounds great on them.

Eibach front and rear ARBs will transform the way it goes around corners, you cannot believe that cars ability to corner with a subtle lowering job and uprated ARBs.

Any advice you want, just drop me a PM anytime.

Health to enjoy.

Yeah wipers are a pain  though working at a major motor factors helps a fair bit!

Might have to look into the ARB upgrades, cheers for that :-)

Anyway, presents have arrived!

Jon did you replace the clocks to fusebox loom? What issues were you having? Our temp gauge goes straight up to about 90 with the ignition on but the engine not started! I've changed the clocks and I'm wondering if its the loom between the clocks and fusebox. Cant really trace the wire as they are all white.

I did indeed bud, the 9v regulator was knackered on my original set plus some plank had glued the plug into the clocks!

Its fairly simple considering how mad that picture looks, there's four wires with a small black plug on, only two are connected though, purple and red IIRC, the other two are redundent but you'll find out which ones by tracing back from the clocks, the big white bundles go into location u1 and u2 in the back of the fuseboard, which are the two main ones for the clocks (1st pic is the back, 2nd is the front of the fuseboard)

Wicked cheers for that. Will have a look at it at the weekend. Looks like you've made some good progress so far. There is always something that needs doing on them though!

Not much has changed on this, picked up black front badge on the cheap from work, also collecting some 15 mm spacers this week for the back, then lower it lil bit more :-D

Then saving for respray!
