I have only ever run one brnad named set of tyres on the front in 11 years of driving around country lanes and have never stacked it unless on ice. To blame tyres is a bit of a cop out imo. In the end, people get caught out, whether driving badly or because the car is set up poorly (stiff coilies etc.). I read an interesting article in some boring trade magazine about tyres recently whilst having another set of budgets fitted that found the gap between budget and branded is closing

The suspension is probably the main issue. If it's too hard, and so designed for smoother surfaces like race tracks, it'll be skittish because it can't adapt to the road surface as fast as it needs to.

And slammed, the geometry's all wrong with this design. At normal height, when the suspension is compressed, the wheel moves up and slightly back in the arch. With slammed rear suspension the wheels actually moves forward in the arch as it's pushed up, there's resistance in the arm itself.

Also, any camber turns into toe when the trailing arm is angled round with reduced ride height - slam the back end of a 6n and your rear wheels are toe-in. With the rear wheels pointing in different directions they're constantly coming unstuck.

The best tyres in the world aren't gonna help much with that.

Just go into to hot, With loads of understeer and then plant your foot flat, should come out surely. If not E-brake :p
