I bought the car in June 2010, & the last three oil/filter changes were done by myself. I can't find the receipt for the first oil change I did (I always write the mileage on the VW filter receipt), but will keep looking.

In addition to the oil changes, I've also replaced the following parts during my ownership:

Both front wheel bearings

Both rear wheel bearings

Front discs & pads

Rear discs & pads (it started raining half way through, so I only did the LH one. RH disc pre-fitted with bearings will come with sale)

Toyo T1-Rs all round (prob 3-4mm tread, but will have to confirm). Fronts have done 10k, rears 20k.

Front top mounts + bearings

Rear top-mounts

New shocks all around

-40mm lowering springs (original VW springs can be included in sale)

Powerflex wishbone bushes

Front LH ABS sensor

New side repeater lenses due to yellowing of original items

Outer CV boots (both sides)

New HT leads & spark plugs @ ~131k

Driver's door electric window regulator

Cylinder head to heater matrix hose (genuine, can't find receipt)

Goodridge hoses fitted to rear brakes, & new CuNi hardlines were run from ABS pump back to beam

I also removed the inlet restrictors from the airbox, & radiused the airbox lid outlet (similar to what Toyotec did). As a result, the contrast between what & cruise really is astonishing – every petrol head friend I have loves it!

There might be more bits I've forgotten about, but I've just moved house for the second time since owning the car so am not as organised as usual!

Aside from the above work, I've also done some bodywork on the car, including rebuilding the bottoms of the front wings & sorting out some scabby bits that were starting to go on the rear arches. I also repainted the upper section of the driver's side doors (f & r) after I managed to catch them on a stupid bracket sticking out from a stupid drainpipe in a stupid multistorey carpark. I didn't have much time to get that one done, so it's not up to my usual standard; I meant to go back & re-do it properly, but just haven't had the time!

The car is in need of a bit of tlc & some money being spent on it. The current faults aren't anything major, & could quite easily be done in a few days by somebody reasonably competent:

Rear beam bushes need replacing

All 4 shocks are worn

Front top mounts & strut-top bearings are shot

Needs a new exhaust

Cat has a hole in it from when the heat shield thing fell off & I scraped a savage speed bump (replace or repair)

Coil pack probably cracked as engine stumbles when it's really wet outside (HT lead ends snapped off inside coil pack when I tried pulling them out on 2 plugs, so I had to dig 'em out. Was working fine before that)

The wheels could all do with a refurb due to corrosion

Drivers side foglight glass is cracked & has a small hole.

The driver’s seat bolsters are completely knackered. I think this is because the guy I bought it from was shaped like a swiss ball.

The rear tyres both lose pressure over a period of about a month or so. I think this is due to corrosion on the sealing surfaces, as I had them refitted with sealing compound about 3months after they were fitted, & it was fine for about a year.

The lock on the boot lid is different to the keys for the car, so needs re-tumbling.

Both the bonnet & roof are suffering lacquer peel, although the bonnet is far worse.

The rear bumper is scraped on the LH corner (housemate reversed into it) & has grazing in the middle (a gatepost I didn't see)

Front RH wing beginning to blister just above bumper (was fine when I repaired the bottom of the wing, so didn't touch it)

I’m pretty sure that’s it for the faults. If I think of anything else I’ll add it later.

The reason I wish to sell the car is because it doesn’t really suit my needs anymore right now, & with two jobs I simply don’t have the time to fix it! It’s a shame to see it go, because when she gets going, say around 3krpm, the noise is just fantastic, & just gets better! The car is an absolute rocketship if driven appropriately, & I would say it’s the fastest thing on the road 95% of the time. I’m tempted to put it in storage & turn it into a blown sleeper when I get the time, but I already have 2 projects on the go that I don’t get time to work on.

The car has a lot of potential, & as I said before, it wouldn’t take much to make it truly great again. I have a feeling that the first person to drive it will be taking it home. She wails..!
