6N Middle Console removal

Featured Replies

I did not want to revive a really old thread.

There were some intructions here from a member (Capamaru)

BUT the vital image is not there anymore so it makes it really hard to follow:

"In the image you can see the console on polo 6n.

This is what you should do:

1) Remove your air vents marked as #3 (use some pincers and just pull them out gently). Then unscrew the torxs marked by arrows.

2) Remove your radio cd marked as #4 (pull the unit out and disconnect all the wires in the back).

3) Remove the plastic around the radio buttons that control air flow marked as #2 (put a flat screwdriver on top of it and pull it out gently).

4) Now you will be able to see all 4 torxs around area #1 and #2 (marked with red arrows). The lower ones will remove the window lifter switches and the upper two will make possible to remove the air flow controls. You should remove all torxs but only remove the window switches and just leave the air flow controls hanging in the air. Behind the window switches (marked with a small arrow) are some wires tied on the console. I was unable to remove that so I cut it and then used some tireups to secure them.

5) Remove all the switches for warning lights and the back windshield heating. Guess what... pull them out gently.

6) Finally remove your asstray and search for 2 torxs under it. I cant remember if those are accesible without removing the other part of the console (the one with the gear lever on it ). If not then you have to remove the other part of the console too. It is hold in place by 3 screws, one torx exactly on the front of the space under the asstray (this is the space where you usually put your cds ) and two plastic ones under the lever cover. If you need more instructions on that let me know.

Please note that I use the word gently a lot. This means that most things on the console come out without excesive force so if you find your self pulling something with both hands and your feet on the dashboard you are doing something wrong...

You will need about an hour and a half to remove and replace the console, so gather your tools and take your time.

Sorry for the crappy picture but I will try to make a complete guide sometime during this week. "

Can someone please put an image on here to allow me to follow the instruction as per pic please? as I'm going to the scrap yard to get some new fresh interior.
