yep I'm with Jon on this one. I'm sure you can find it on facebook or YouTube if you want but from hearing what went on and how serious the crash was I for one do not want to watch it.

it would have been a different story if someone just crashed in to the barrier and damaged the car and everyone walked away. but this is not the case here.

Seems very 'big brother' banning people for posting this yet saying other video's of this nature can be posted. Like its ok to watch someone being hurt in a car crash as long as a mod from club polo wasn't there to see it. If your gonna do this out of respect for those involved then surely a ban on all crashes with people being hurt or injured should be put in place out of respect for those involved?

Can see where you're coming from, obviously we don't want to come across as all big brother like, we can't stop people from posting crash vids and stuff like that

However, in this case, I'm not saying just because I was there it shouldn't be posted, or an other crash videos for that matter, I'm merely saying that as this was at one of the largest VW shows of the season, there's a high likelihood that someone on here knows someone involved. Therefore with the severity of the crash, it would be unfair to put them through the whole thing again. I cannot stress how bad this was, I myself am still a lil in shock and others who saw it will probably echo my responses.

In hindsight, banning someone is probably OTT, however it is the standpoint of a few other forums that I've been on yesterday and today and was only really to serve as a deterent, not the be all and end all to posting of certain material

No one has to click on a link tho Jon, if it was to he posted it would be stated what it was a link to. Now if it was posted and people started posting stupid comments about it then I think it would be fair for the ban stick to be brought out, but refusing to let it be posted would be like the government banning all footage of the 911 attacks in the aftermath of it because people seeing it might know some one involved

Like has been said tho it will no doubt be on YouTube at some point if people really want to see it, I just felt it was a little hypocritical to say that crash videos could be posted as long as they didn't involve a vw

Yer - crash videos are posted up, normally of tools hurting themselves doing something stupid- this is of innocent people being seriously hurt with potentially life changing injuries, and this isnt going to be of ricers or fools in bmws - these people i consider as one of our own- the VW VAG clan.

This site gets enough bad press as it is- so if someone searchs google for GTI international crash video - and gets club polo as the top link and anyone can view what will be an awful thing to see - this site will get further bad press.

This is a club for all of us and i dont want to be labelled under the same banner as others.

So if its someone in a Honda its ok to post it, but if its someone in a vw, in our clan, it can't be posted?

It don't matter what sort of car is involved imo (why would that even be relevant?). I don't drive a vw anymore so if I have a nasty crash and someone gets hurt and it just happens to be caught on camera, its fine for someone to post that up and my feelings or those of anyone else involved ain't even an issue, but if the car involved is vw then that suddenly becomes the case?

The fact this happened at a vw show makes it big news in vw circles, yet it seems like its being given some kind of black out when it should be highlighted to show that the shows we attend can be dangerous places to be. As for people being upset by it, we are all grown up's and are old enough to decide for ourselves what we are capable of watching. If it sounds too graphic then don't click the link.

Lastly, if someone is searching Google for "GTI international crash video" then they can hardly get upset about it when they find it, no matter what site its on

Dont make any difference to me whatever manufacturer it is tbh. I have friends with all different makes of car, i wouldnt treat them different if two of them crashed and one was a vw lol

My worry is once health and safety get involved it will cost to much to put on.

I'd only ever use an FIA approved quick release boss for a race car, but they don't allow it to be locked on, which a road car should have IIRC

You don't want to see the video. I'd be amazed if there isn't at least a handful of people who caught it on camera, but it's a bit grim wanting to watch it.

id imagine the show organisers will be at huge risk of being sued. the barriers and safety precautions put in place were obviously not good enough to maintain the safety of show goers.

ahwell, everyone has their opinion, id personally watch it, wether that makes me grim or not i dont really care, just interesting to see what happened.

I read on the seat forum that people were crowding round filming and taking photos of the people that had been hit by the car, that's pretty sick. If your filming a car and it crashes that's one thing, but to go out of your way to film someone that could of been lying there dying, that's pretty fucked up

Also read that the driver didn't brake at all, witnesses claim it was only the car running over shit that slowed and stopped it

Its hard to take anything as gospel that you read after something like that, but filming after is has happened, i'd smash the camera down someone's throat if i saw them at it!

Sounds awful, wether you want to watch it or not is up to you at the end of the day, its effected jon in an understandable way, i wouldn't want to watch it, there or not, but thats just me.

Don't get why its getting blasted way out of contex though, infact most things do so i take that back!

Motorsport is dangerous,as the warning explains on the entrance ticket. It also explains at the bottom that you are present at your own risk. You can't blame the organisers for someones mechanical failure. I was near the end of the sprint barriers on sunday morning and actually looked at the weighted barriers and wondered if they would be capable of stopping some of the quick cars if anything went wrong. Sadly it looks like I've got my answer.

On the subject of video posting I have to agree with eric/mclovin, makes no difference that it was a vw show and if you don't want to watch it then don't open the link. Sometimes s**t happens that's beyond everyones control, and its things like this that make you realise how dangerous cars etc really are!

If one of my mates had been run over and was in hospital with serious injuries and loads of people i didn't know were asking for a video, i'd be pretty fucked off.

If id seen a load of people run over (which is a fairly shocking thing to see) and people were asking for video, i'd be pretty fucked off.

Driver didn't brake but doubt it would've made much difference, he'd already clocked 60mph (in about 4 secs) so was going a decent whack and he had 10 metres and possibly five seconds to realise what was going on, the guy at work I was talking to who was right by it said it was so quick how it happened, they barely had time to get out of the way, he's still mega in shock, his sister was hysterical for hours apparently

I'm with kerrly and hope it isn't the death knoll for Inters, heard a few people going on about H&S, tbh, someone signed it off as acceptable else they wouldn't have the drag strip, I just worry its going to jack up the price of tickets for one of the already expensive shows
