Not really a huge update but i've bought an atv gearbox from tav so will get that looking fresh then get it fitted and when I have the cash i'll be getting it quaifed! :)

Also had to buy a new cv boot which I need to get round to fitting when I can be arsed haha!

what box has it got on at the minute? id love a LSD but its money i dont have (and id have to buy a subframe at the same time).

same here with the cv boot. mines drivers side. just hoping its not as hard a job as some people make out?

  • Author

It has a GT box on it atm AHD is the code iirc.. As for a subframe, I really want a stage 2 so may order one over christmas/birthday

Boots are easy to change inners and outers.. if your stuck if its an outer I can chuck a guide up on the tech area once I can be arsed to change mine over.. already done the drivers side haha!

was gonna undo driveshaft at inner CV and the bolt in middle of disk, remove shaft, slide old boot off, grease and replace new boot and replace shaft. someone said something about needing a vice but i think they're thinking of someone else. maybe this weekend if i too can be arsed! lol

if its the outer you can just under the balljoint pinchbolt, undo the 30mm nut on the hub for the shaft then just pull the hub off the shaft and pull the shaft over to the side.. Chop the boot off then you can tap off the joint with a copper mallet being careful then slip the new boot on the shaft, tap the joint back on then attatch the metal ties then chuck it all back together.. done!

no need to remove the whole shaft or use a vice as its easily done! :)

hmmmm if the taking bits apart I'm not too sure on. got a haynes book of fail and a very helpful dad so should be ok.....hopefully

Haha fair enough.. I would offer a hand if you were local! haha

Not so much of an update, but slowly starting to buy some more bits ready for the rebuild for the turbo conversion!

Well that saves me putting a spotted thread up:

Got this on the M4 on Sunday afternoon, but I wasn't driving my car at the time, I was in this:

So doubt you'd have spotted me tbh.

It was just before Coldra roundabout where I saw you.

Haha sweet! 8-)

Was either on the way back or to from bristol! Lol

Strangely so was I, except I went there on Saturday, got shit-faced in Bristol Saturday evening and then drove home late afternoon/early evening on Sunday. I was going back to Cardiff when I saw you. Car looked sweet! My wife took the pic

Haha mad! You should have went to the KK meet there! Was a good turnout! :)

Cheers for that, to be honest it looks better from a distance haha!

Did you also spot the red mk2 Golf too?
