If this is to me I didn't mean it like it sounds probably did sound a bit childish I just meant I probably double check people and stuff like that first to see of they have sold stuff in the past and got reviews and stuff. Perhaps it might be a good idea to make a review page in the sale section so people can see good sellers and stuff and if your a new seller then just describe yourself as a new seller or something I sure something could be thought up

On some sites you have to have a minimum of 10 or 25 posts before you can post For Sale threads however on another forum I've been a member of staff on for a few years, you can easily have people with a 1000 posts start ripping people off.

I always pay via PayPal, never a gift. If people kick off about fees, I usually pay an extra £1-£2 to cover PayPal fees so that I'm covered should anything not show up or show up damaged.

I've posted no end of shit to people on here and never had anything fail to turn up yet. I know it can and does happen but for it to happen to the same person at least, what five times? Absolute fucking bullshit.

As Ceri said, ues the for sale section at your own risk. Not that thats a nice thing to have to do on a 'friendly' forum, but your always going to get some boy out to make a fast buck.

Personally, if selling I always ask for fees to be covered. If they choose to pay by gift, then thats their choice. I have the benefit of a rep i suppose (if a little tardy with actually sending stuff out) and I always confirm what the product is if its potentially confused (e.g. sold some chopped springs). If people come to collect things, I always advise they look at what they're buying before they take it just so everone's happy.

If buying from someone that I know, then I'm happy with gift more for the ease (no calculating fees, I'm idle). If not, then i'll pay the fees or cash on collection.

You just need to cover yourself, both when buying so you're not pumped by an scammer, or selling by making sure people are happy with what they're buying. Also, if something goes missing, I'll repay the money and take it up with the PO

there'll always be scammers... just use your head and do a bit of research on the seller before you buy

What do you suggest? I have never had a problem, and I would say the majority of other people have never had an issue. The section works well on the most part, changing it is like saying ban credit cards becuase some people are victims of fraud.

What I'm trying to say is if you can prove that someone is scamming people you should have a report section or something where you can name and shame and of that person does it more then once you can ban them from selling stuff or even ban then from the site depending.

simple suggestion for finding trust worthy people they will go through paypal and they will not use gift as the wont mind the fees if they ask you to gift it say no and reject the sale never buy from people who have low posts and dont trust people with sketchy info on an item

and as has been said you do use the for sale section at your own risk so a little discretion is always advised if something doesnt feel right about a seller/buyer then ask a few questions make sure there cosher

Paypal isn't exactly Harrods, even if you keep fees down by using it just for deposits you're covered at a price that doesn't interfere a great deal.

so hang on, if the OP has paid then why should him being skint cause a refund issue? on the rare occassions I do sell on here I always make sure they know what I'm selling, what price, when they will get it (I just walk down to me post office and ask) always offer a range of postage options and not take the money out of payapl unless I know the transaction went fine and they have goods.

I've got LOADS of half decent things I could sell but won't due to A, taking the piss to get things sold and B, the worry I've sold something and it isent EXACTLY as the buyer wanted.

I've bought off a few people on here now and can highly reccoment most if not all! Heartagram, Rich, Mclovin, Randombadger69, jordonVW, Polo M, grungeisdead, StinkyPete to name but a few! Plenty more I have bought from and never had a issue, bit of a background check never hurt.

A buyer feedback area wouldn't be bad, with its own search at the top of the sub-forum to find a members name and all feedback comments should be collated below the username in that section. It won't stop the pricks taking money but its another line of defence.

If ever anyone has any problems with goods / payments and your Bank account is linked to your Paypal account and provided you have enough evidence of communications etc you can request your bank to instruct Paypal for a "Charge Back" you are guaranteed your money back regardless of time scale and as this fucks Paypals accounts up they normally close the Paypall account too.

Job done but this is only at a last resort when communications have completely broke down.

Allot of the time its not intended scamming its just allot of young people have little sence of urgency and tend to bury there heads in the sand this leads to frustration.

Thats a risk you take buying over the net. You can only supply so many pictures, descriptions etc. I have bought things that weren't as described, didn't fit the way they should etc. and you have to take it on the chin.
