Every car is a drivers car, if you can't drive you shouldn't be on the road!

A Micra doesnt count. People who drive them cant drive.

Buy my MX5.

hmm, It seems anyone that doesn't find the mx5 the most bestest awesomest amazing car in the whole wide world isn't entitled to an opinion

I drove one and it didn't do a lot for me, it just wasn't my sort of car at all. I've never once said it didn't handle well but if that was all I was interested in in a car I wouldn't drive a slammed mk2 polo. I've drove a lot of cars that as soon as I had gotten home I was looking at on eBay on the off chance I could afford one, the MX5 wasn't even close to one of them

They probably do make great track cars, but I've never done or intend to do a track day. They probably can show up much faster cars through the bends, but I'd still rather be in the faster car enjoying the power. And they are non doubt 'drivers cars', but different people get enjoyment from different aspects of driving and not everyone will enjoy the same car

Wish my MX5 came with the factory paper bag  I might consider driving it in that case...

I hope that's not a derogatory comment about an mx5 azz, if it is you should be aware that the opinion Nazi's will be hunting you down for daring to not bum lick the Mazda

I've driven one, couldn't see where i was going because the headlights were up at the time, didn't give it any beans and didn't get enough of a feel for the experience to comment further (was just taking it somewhere).

No opinions are not allowed. only mine is valid you all suck. I kid, the OP asked about drivers cars an MX-5 could be his thing (based on driving style) or he might like the drive but hates the fact he would look gay. lets discount it from the OP's list because there is no way in hell he can buy a decent one and insure it within his budget.

Peugeot 205- now theres a zippy good handling little hatch that is dirt cheap and great fun.

I love how this thread has turned into mclovin vs. mx5's haha,

yeh leon has hit the nail on the head there i cant get a good one, let alone insure it, the more i think about it the more optimistic i thought i was when i turned 18 being open to a whole new world of motoring, oh well i still think a mk2/3 will be fun for now, even if its not a golf or an mx 5 for me, having driven maybe 10 cars i think a mk 2/3 would be good for me, and also it gives me something to work on, which i should have emphasized more, and i take it mk 2/3's are as simple as they come?

And as catchy as OP is, my name is Adam

lupo 1.4 16v?

Not a bad shout at all. Quick enough and handle well with a decent tyre and suspension set up.

A lot of misinformation on MX5's here.

at 18 youll never get insured for a reasonable amount on one.

Id stick with a nice small car like a lupo, arosa or some of the Japanese small ones and do weight saving things without "modifying" and just learn to drive it well. You probably have seen that german girl drive a van around the ring in times many average lads who roll up cant do in a skyline.

I'm tempted to do a mini "myths and facts of mx5's " thread. having lived and breathed them for the last 15 years. I'm known as Roadsterchinsk on the mx5 forums - haven't been on there in a while. But youll see my old cars if you search something like Roadsterchinsk mx-5

Most of us would say PW, but Leon's a frequent porn site addict so he uses the yank term OP..

106 rallye, 205 1.6 gti, saxo vtr, golf gti 8v, only a few i can think of at the minute, tbh if your lookin for a hot hatch id steer away from polos because no matter how hard you try they still handle like shit lmao.

So why do you have a polo if they handle like shit lol
