Just convert to solid lifters.

You'll get them from somewhere, phone a few cam companies.

Surprised you havnt revving it so much anyway haha, just because standard ones seem fine doesn't mean they are, stuff doesn't last forever, no matter how much you clean it.

GSF? VW? eBay?

This probably sounds really stupid but whats the actual difference, as in how do they work?

What the different between hyd & solid?

just found a company who would seem to sell a solid lifter conversion

rosten performance

it does say the lash caps have to be ground down to the required valve clearance which sounds a bit odd? as how can that be done precisely and a small amount at a time for each valve?

just double checked the specs on the solid lifters and it looks like ime onto a winner, can someone please confirm this?

Personally dude id try contacting them to find out as much as possible!

theres nothing else to know really, the specs on the lifters are the same, the only thing ime unsore of is the method of setting the valve clearence with those lash caps

More info never hurts :)

for the setting of the lash cap it does say you need to tell them if they are inlet or exhaust and then I'm guessing they will grind them down there must be a difference between the exhaust and inlet and thats why it says they need grinding for the application

thats how i read it anyways

From reading it, it look as if you tell them the engine you'll be using (as they are listed for several) and they'll grind them for you. The ask you to specify the engine you see. Would be worth contacting them though as Nick says to confirm this. However, the english on the site doesn't look great, so you may struggle getting the exact info you need

I'd still contact a UK place like piper. Just because it's not on their website it doesn't mean they can't sort you out ! :)

can somebody please confirm that the AFH uses 35mm tappets? as i dont have one to hand to double check

You do know solid lifters tap from standard/brand new?

Especially with an aggressive cam lobe.

yeh but they are supposed to, hydros arnt, i can deal with that

But your gonna replace your hydraulic tappets, with ones that cause "tapping" from design, so if it isn't the tappets, your not gonna know.

I think there seems to be a group decision that it is so far
