yes a bike fuel pump but which, internal or external?

external ..

These turn off and on from pressure ..

Internal ones are from newer bikes which run injection iirc or cannot supply fuel via gravity

Internal is a sender unit for an injection bike.

External pay £20-40 dependant on breaker really, they're all made by Mitsubishi I believe.

Bogg bros even recommend them. And have used 400cc bike pumps on 2.0 cars with no issues.

How much does it cost for decent t pieces all the extra clips etc once you've saved a fiver on a facet?

People will spend £25 on a facet then another £40 on a regulator or more, then loads of clips and pipe and still have issues lol

I have got a fuelling problem

I first fitted a T piece but had the problem that my carbs were not getting alot of fuel.

So got a in line regulator and i have set it a 3.5psi (Not got a fuel pressure gauge yet) but i have fuel leaking out of it.

Can it handle the pressure from my standard pump?

I don't have fuel coming out my carbs overflows or running out down the manifold as it is still lean.

Does anyone run a inline regulator?

It is better than the T piece but it is leaking out the regulator.

T-piece depends on how it's setup.

You won't want fuel running down your manifold, ever.

How d'you know there's a fuelling issue? If the float bowls fill, they shut off and all the fuel goes down the other t-part and back to the tank?

When i said running down my manifold, i ment that i no its not got to much pressure. As it is not coming out the carb overflows or flooding through the jets and down inside my manifold make it rich. As it was still running lean.

I found that with the T piece that the carbs had fuel but they run out quick if i let the bowls fill up it would run fine at idle but would runout of fuel under throttle. But if i let it idle the carb bowls would fill back up and let it rev up. I sqashed the return and it was better.

What are you using to pump the fuel? Most regulators wont handle the injection pumps.

I have replaced my standard injection pump and fitted a facet low pressure pump and it is all working fine with no leaks :-)

Sounds like your pump wasn't man enough to keep the return line suitably pressurised. What you could do then is put a pinch on the return as you said you'd had some degree of success with, maybe semi-block the pipe with a section of thinner pipe, or use the regulator to restrict the return instead of the supply!

I was going to buy a bike fuel pump until I saw a member post the above link. They look quite the part.

I dont know anyone running one personally, apart from the guy who mentioned them, looks a good idea though.

Once I ensured a really good earth connection behind the anti-vibration mount it has

been great. Especially cold starts because unlike a mechy pump don't need to crank to fill the bowl(s).

But I'm using it with a Weber DMTL (and Golf mk2 swirl pot) - not bike carbs.

Still want to try with no return and see that it turns off like a motorbike pump does.

Sent them a email asking for advice but like every other company they will probably reply something like this:

"this is used for this and that but COULD be used on other applications" lol

I think it must do the job.

"The pump is self-priming and stops when no fuel is needed( energy saving)

Needs not necessarily be fitted below the tank (self-priming) ­ "

These two alone must indicate it does the job for the car/carb application.

Whats best thing for the breather pipe, Leave it or put it on a line into a filter?

Dude with all respect, more than one of us have given you perfect information explained very well, on more than one occasion, most of which is already on here in more than one place, if you cant work it out amybe you shouldbt be doing this conversion, because putting it all together is the easy bit, getting it together properly so it runs and then setting it up enough even to get to a RR is the harder bit, so if you cant work things out from being directly told in the simplest terms, when all the info is written down, maybe you should get some proper help.
