Problem found. Took it out for a quick test got back and could hear the sound of air pinging into the caliper as I was applying pressure when parked.

put my hand on the hose connection bracket behind the strut and there was fresh fluid, took a look at the joint while dad turned the wheel and the hose would turn with the steering after a few turns he pressed the pedal and it started forcing fluid out again as if the slight turning had it undo itself enough to suck air in and cause a fluid leak.

So will be dismantling that joint and checking the seal when I get home and using stronger thread lock.

Still can't see how it managed it Tbh unless thread lock has a use by date.

The braided section is clipped on to the body work too but I assuming the turning action complete with road vibration is enough to loosen it after 2/3 weeks.

Just strange that I didn't find any fluid there before.

Sorry for digging this up but same thing has just happened to me.

Although throughout the journey to work when braking lightly, the car would jolt and the brake pedal would kick back at me. I just kept on going as I couldn't stop and check, being late for work. Anyways, about a mile away I lost all brakes, pedal goes to the floor. I can feel it trying to stop ever so slightly when a really push and it pulls to the left ever so slightly too.

Anyone had this/got any ideas?

I'm going to investigate tomorrow as I had planned a "polo day" anyways but it's bugging me at work knowing something's broken and I don't know what.

Edit: there is still brake fluid in the reservoir.

Sounds like MC has gone. Will get a new one bought tomorrow and fitted in the snow. Fun!

One problem.....no rigid pipes on my car.

Ye was a fully faulty master cylinder on mine, not creating any pressure at all (slight pressure on front passengers when fully depressed). The leak in the joint was giving us a bit of a false issue, especially as the leak was so small it took ages to find and while a leak is an issue, we were too quick to think the MC was ok because it was new.

Should have listened to the rest of CP.
