Revs counter clocks are sat in a box of bits in the garage ;)

It's actually wrinkle red paint from Frost restoration... Baked it in the oven (hour at 90c) to get a nice even wrinkle.

^^ Ah yeah, i looked at that stuff but it aint cheap?

Yoof has it on his GT, looks really good in the flesh! The red shade is a little bit, well like red oxide primer! Works really well, not too in-yer-face. Texture of primer would be a bit pants though, thinking about it.

Although i think the black works best with that texture, black's relatively dull. My textured black is a cheaper wrinkled satin and it's crap, false economy, i shoulda bought that stuff.

That stuffs really good. Split petrol on it and didn't do anything. Can clean it with solvent and again doesn't affect it. One can has done my old MX5 rocker, the old 1.3 and the AFH and there's still some left :)

Got the engine out this evening and put it in the workshop to do the cambelt and clutch.

Took the box off to find this...

Which had obviously decided that him and the clutch plate weren't friends...

Got my monies worth out of that one :D

Gave the bell housing a good clean out, put it back together then did the cam belt

Got a new belt, water pump, idler and tensioner from GSF for £90.

Was half tempted to give it all a clean and paint but tbh, with a winters worth of driving to come, seems slightly pointless...

Thats one of very few AFH engines i think looks good!

Great work!

is mine one of them :p

I got the mirrors off ebay for a fiver. Took off the old mirrors then made a baseplate to fit in the normal rubber surround then bolted them to the door the same way the standard mirrors go on. I've got a thread on Edition and Polo3 but normally update them with the same content :)

Decided to go to a Retro Rides meet at the Aces Cafe in London last night. Put the Compomotives back on and actually washed it for the first time in about two months...

Went the scenic route home and took some pics under Waterloo station. Even managed to concour the savage speed bump on the way in :D

Hey cracking thread and car, love black and gold look.

Quick Q on the top mounts caps. Was it literally a straight swap for 6n ones? you just get hold of that dished metal disc/top mount cap that's all?

no need for different nuts or rubber topmounts

  • Author

It's a straight swap

Top car.

That is epic... picture stolen for the facebook page... :)
