I sold my pots because I knew I wouldn't be able to get the stance I wanted and I fell in love with my wheels aha, pots are too narrow and too small on a 165/50 tyre. Good luck aha.

I sold my old's (sicx's old old 1's) with no tyres for £160 and they were all ruff and sanded down so probs bout the same price but there are quite few in 4x100 stud pattern now..

Oooh, so about what I paid for them then? You two not think they might be worth a little more because of them being polished? 160 sounds like a mint price! How did you manage that

I bought mine with standard finish and balloon tyres on about 2 1/2 years ago for £150. I would say put them up a bit more if you want to see what they are worth for being polished. So maybe say £200 but not let them go for less than £160 or something, you may be surprised what people will pay. I will be interested to see as I still have my set, still on the balloon tyres :( and painted black badly (by me) reckon mine are only worth about £100 because of the paint job :/ woops

I had mine for sale for a few months but no interest then out the blue a bloke brought them, painted them purple and is now selling them for £130 aha. Set a Target price on, condition of alloy, tyres and with or without centre caps, round the 150-200 mark like above would say you are most likely to get what I got for mine, I paid £180 +postage from sicx with tyres aha. If all else fails, split the tyres of the wheels, sell them as part worns 5mm tread or what ever for at least £20-30 each.

Cheers for that you two, its given me a decent idea of how much I think mine are worth! Got some small plans for the car that include wrapping the pillars in faux suede. Just need to find the time to give it a go. Tempted to do the headliner too but probably in something slightly different to suede. Any ideas? Was thinking leopard print but that might be slightly weird

and suede interior or exterior pillars!? :p thought you meant the outside of the B-pillar for a minute there ... Hmm you could get it flocked? not that similar to suede but in a similar/ same colour it could work although it might also be quite similar to what you have. The headlining will need to come out for this too, I think.

If I was getting my interior done there would have to be some diamond stitch in there somewhere, that would probs look lush as a headlining. Here's a google image of one

Grey suaide pillars and a headling, black grab handles and sun visours. Same with door cards if i was going to do the interior, with a mk7 golf wheel controlling a vw satnav headunit.

Wouldn't have a clue, have a go can't be that hard as its such a flat peace, spray advice on and cover smooth out. Would imagine, bang a dolphin fin on whilst your there

Pretty sure they are quite easy man, take of the grab handles, (pop the cap off and undo torgue bit) same with the visors, centre light should come off easy, little pick into the light between the gap, undo connector and the torque bits. Remove the rear seats and door cards, a pillars pull back enough, b pillars come off too some how. Then the rear boot pillars pull back just enough to slide it out. Pretty sure that's how it comes out aha. Purchase a Haynes manual tell you in there all the hidden bolts. Regarding the rear door card, be carefull of the clips if 3 door.

just seen this post! nice thread! i really want to colour code my bumper strips and mirrors, how long roughly did it take you? would a garage cost alot to get that done or would it be best to do it yourself?

with your spacers for the front you say youve got 20mm on, is that 10mm either side or 20mm either side? I'm not sure what i wanna get but i think yours is nice, i may do the same!

hi mate what did you prep it with before paint? I had wanted to do this but wasn't sure how to get a smooth finish on top of the textured surface

Started off with some plastic primer after keying it and filling some scratches, then used a high build primer out of a can. It was a 500ml can and I used pretty much all of it. When the primer was done I the texture off and flatted it all back until it was smooth with next to no texture. Then base coat and lacquer! I didn't thinking would work as well as it did, it took a while to do as well because of all the different stages but was well worth it! Hope this helps

I'd much prefer colour coded and de-textured but it was abit of a bastard to sand in the small gaps to get rid of the texture. If you are able to remove the bumper strips it should be a pretty easy job but i didnt fancy hacking at them to get them out. Theres loads of clips on them! so prying them off would have probably done more harm than good. Going to attempt to colour code and de-texture the rear valance soon!

ah cool i've got a new rear end to go on at some point and the bumpstrip for that is already smooth, but I know they are like £20 from TPS for genuine VAG ones so might just save and get them, I quite like the black though, ties in with my wheels nicely i think

Yeah true, yours probably looks better with them black. i didnt know you could buy them smooth. if i did i probably wouldnt have messed around spraying them haha! you got any idea how would i go about removing the bumpstrips?

no idea mate, i seem to remember that in the Haynes manual it only has how to take the bumpers off. The smooth ones were like an optional extra I think so you can get them from VAG or a parts place. I accidentally ordered a smooth rear one though so will have to decide which way to go. Although having seen a bumper without the insert I would think you could take the bumper off then prise the clips out of the back of the bumper (as in the bit thats normally hidden when on the car).

yeah i was looking at those clips when i had the bumper off to spray the strip, there was so many of them and i couldnt be bothered working out how to get them off. I feared that i'd force them off and not be able to get them back on haha! really want to fit my coilovers! i even sat there and removed the helpers this weekend ready for when i do fit them. do you think its worth buying new top mounts/bearings? so then i dont have to mess around removing the old spring from the strut to get the top mounts?

My bad man not read this thread in long didnt know this was on coilovers! Tbh tyres sound fine how they are, especially if they've got loads of tread.

I should really learn to read threads / look at pics and not just glance over them...

Not on coils yet, I just fitted the rear coilovers to see how they sat, its back to standard now until I sort getting some front tyres I didn't see the point in wasting a decent set of continentals so just got them fitted to the rears :) hopefully it will fit alright, scrubbing wise!

Thanks! I had the adjusters about halfway down for this pi so there's plenty to go, it might have to stay a bit above the tyres because they aren't that stretched but hopefully the fronts will fit nicely
