When my engine dies, i'll report back. theres more breadvans on here with that much reverse rake they probably run worse setup than me given mines nose down.

My engine (spirit level on rocker cover) sits VERY VERY close to stock.

Oil drains are on the front side of the head, it's designed for oil to drain at that angle. It's a gravity thing.

Given my car sits with this much rake:

I'm not bothered about the front of the engine being 1" higher, its near stock angle on flat ground with the lift anyway

but how did you know how much to cut off? just a guess or???

surely if you do too much/too little you may end up with oil starvation?

could always measure the depth of a early pickup...

or i could just spoon feed you the info if you like?

looks to be 120cm from the main bearing cup to the tip of the pickup (give or take a few mm). not sure if the main bearing cup is the same size on both these engines? if not or if you just want it measuring from another point let me know

I took a calculated guess with mine, but at least we know its 12cm. if mines too short i can use washers underneath that sort of V bracket if you like, if its too long, i can bend them slightly so its shallower as mikey explained previously

With getting measurements wrong like that guy - it's no wonder all the ladies are after you

My calcated guess measures in at 117mm, ill put a washer or 2 either side underneath the V bracket if I need to.

Guessing the AVY uses a Late style pick up and the mk3 sump fits this.. So its the same process ?

Also are the mk3 1liter sumps and dipsticks the same ? Can rob my mates then :p

You need dipstick AND tube to suit whatever sump you're fitting :)

If you use the 8v tube on the 16v you need to modify they bracket on the tube where it bolts to the head for obvious reasons

yeah should of said whole asembally tbf lol ..

could chop it to length of the mk3 tube to save modding the bracket..?

1liter sumps same i guess ? And shall fit onto avy all beeing well as AEE have same hole spacings .

Needs a mk3 sump tho.. Driving down cambered roads with passangers and it catches down pipe..

Gonna go have a chat with the exhasut place to see if they can shorten the downpipe a inch or 2 :) as its now got a flat spot lol -_-
