CAN WE STOP WRECKING THREADS

Featured Replies

We've had this discussion before Guy haven't we. I hope it does work, would be reet good. But if it doesn't, there's going to be enough people going to say 'I told you so'. Hope it doesn't come to that, but it will prove out earlier point!

and the people who are trying to be helpful, but can't resist having a go at other users (you know who you are) and then there's Max

What's that mean Simon? I'm confused?

Max's last answer WAS helpful.

Maybe it's just post count jealousy.

Nothing really, thought you'd like a shout out! You always post on my thread with encouragement, wanting updates or advice, which at times has kept the project ticking over at times

Create a 'Like' or 'Dislike' button, which anyone viewing a thread can use for each post. Only the OP can make actual replies to the thread. Any further opinions could be left to PMs?

Ah so its a good thing? I thought you were having a pop

Its written before it that confused me, and i couldn't rememeber what i'd written on your thread.

Nothing is going to be changed, the members are still the same, the routine is the same.

I cant be arsed helping atall anymore since someone deleted my whole meaning for this site, a build thread and a good few thousand productive posts.

make a new thread man. i wanna see the g!

Sorry ben, but there was a reason for that

he didn't just delete it for no reason, yeah it was abit extreme.

Ahem to that!

Stop posting bollocks then it won't happen. I went through about 500 of your most recent posts before I did it and there was nothing useful.

and the other 6k posts? ahh, ye, guess you didnt check them all did you. You spat your dummy out Steve, wether you want to admit to it or not.

The idea of members having a topic in the gallery with deletion rights isn't a bad one, though i can see a couple of paths of abuse.

One being with some people i expect to delete anything negative, so they end up with two pages of arse kissing, which they then use to sell the car elsewhere.

Another is people pratting about in threads as they do already, and giving one such a potential toy it'll just be used for comedy.

And it'd have to be restricted to one topic to prevent a cover thread.

Personally, i don't see a problem. If people take the piss and a thread is 35 pages of pub subtitles then instead of deleting the thread i'm strongly and genuinely feeling i'd have just deleted the last 33 pages. Hey presto, it's back to being a gallery. Three strikes and it's gone.

Course, some will argue that it's unavoidable and isn't their fault, they can't help who invades their topic. Bollocks. My gallery thread is four pages long despite being nearly three years old, not for a lack of people wanting to know details about it, and reading through it's easy to see why - i don't use it as a chat site by bumping it with a picture of a new bulb, and i don't bite to any posts that i can see are gonna lead to conversation. It is not for Q&A and it shows.

Also i have a report button, so if someone decides to get comfy in there i can nod the bouncers.

It's ironic this thread is turning into an example of what Kiz created it to stop.

I think it was nearer 8000. No doubt there was something useful in there somewhere, but seeing as I didn't find it in the first 500, I didn't think I'd find it in the 500 after that either. Would you want to read 8000 of your posts?

Give it a try - http://www.clubpolo.co.uk/forum/index.php?...p;hl=&st=25

OK then - Bye!

oh dear.

He'll be back - always is.

I've put a few threads up on here taking my time writing it up with pictures and some good information, to get absolutely zero replies lol. Seems this is generally a hangout for certain groups of people and if they're not involved with the thread then nobody wants to know.

Has put me off writing up a build thread tbh.

Dont make build threads, i find going to shows alot more exciting when you dont know whats going to be there.

internet-memes-trolling-back-in-the-day.

i do believe that the amount of shit in build threads needs to stop but then i think it would be better if the forum has a general chat section no just about cars but about anything

We do, it's available to all paid members.

ye but what about all the people that are on this forum that are not paying members we have nothing so we would post it in somewhere where it shouldnt be posted

The club exists for it's members, and only by the support of it's members. If people didn't support the club by joining (shameless plug http://www.clubpolo.co.uk/join/) and chucking us a fiver a year, we can't do the stuff we do, such as:

- Run the site (web servers ain't cheap)

- Put on the Polo Show

- Roll up to shows all over the country with a Gazebo, banners, and Public Liability Insurance

- Put on the Rolling Road Day (with a nice £10 discount for our members at the last one)

- Attend the track day at Blyton Park (£20 off for members at the last one, making it £79)

- Negotiate discounts with parts places and insurers (10% off a £50 parts bill - there's your fiver! 5% off a £500 insurance policy - there it is again!)

Imagine the club as a pub. Would you walk in a pub, wander in, have a chat to a few folks, listen to the band, not buy a drink, then tell the landlord he should change the wallpaper?

Nope, but here, you get the For Sale and Wanted sections for free. The technical sections for free. The FAQ sections for free. The gallery sections for free. On topic chat for free and then complain because that's all there is?
