Now then guys I'm new to this forum and have recently bought a 2001 1.0 liter vw polo. One of my mates who is doing up a old ford suggested i joined a polo club and start up a project thread,heres a photo of my car , anyone have any ideas on how to modify or make changes?

Cheers guys, I am doing stuff on a budget so the cheapest things will be getting done first, on the front wing there is some rust so looking for a new pannel to put on it if anyone has or knows someone with one for sale?

It is known as a number of models, some call it the MK3, some call it the MK3F (facelift) but most people on here will call it the MK5

Yeah there known commonly on here as a 6n2 or mk5

It is easiest to go by chassis code because this way there is no dispute.

Fair play. Wheels are a wide variety really. These cars car pull off a lot of diffenent styles. Depends what you want to go for. Jdmness like Rotas or such look well. Or go more euro with deep dish or bbs or banded steels. All depends on the look you are going for really dude. Take a look through the builds on here. Some great ideas for wheels and other mods :)

I'll say to you what i say to most others that i see asking 'What shall i do to my car'.

Do whatever YOU want to do, its YOUR car. If you rely on other peoples ideas you can't claim it as yourown. Also there are so many different opinions of different things to do that the combination of mentioned things could possibly be a massive flop.

If you like the look of something, do it. Just put yourown twist/touch to it to make it that little bit different from the rest.

Take my 6n for example, its hated by so many polo & non-polo people. But also loved by some. I'm building my car for myown enjoyment and I can quite safely say I'm happy with what I've accomplished and what i have planned, just because its that little bit different from the other polo's. Not saying mines better or worse than anyones, but you've got to be unique these days! Not much left that hasn't been done to a polo, GET CREATIVE!

Yeah i have been looking at some bbs for it in black they look pretty sick like but i only payed £700 for the car so to go put some £500 alloys on it seems a bit silly, from looking on ebay i think I'm just going to buy some cheaper alloys and look at getting them referbished so i can basicly get any colour i want.

Thanks for the advise mate, i know i was asking for some ideas but i am really looking for the knowledege I'm only 17 and dont really have a clue what I'm doing when it comes to cars, although my dad is very good on cars he spends most of his time doing his own projects.

I'm looking to pick stuff off people, plus its always nice to see what ideas other people have and then tweeck their ideas to make them your own.
