Agree that insurance is over used, silly amount of people claim whiplash after little tap.

I recently hit a wall at 50, I know what whiplash is and it didn't destroy my life to the point of taking someone to court. A week later everything's fine.

I used to get wound up by my premiums going up due to whipelash claims but after having two people close to me get proper fucked over by insurers undervaluing their cars, it actually looks like the only way to get enough to replace your car

^^True. I only claimed because the woman was unapologetic when she wrote mine off and with the poor payout I got I couldn't afford a replacement. The 'compo' I claimed payed for my replacement, not a holiday on the coata del Geeza or some such.

They rang me today, the other party has FINALLY accepted liability, only took them 2 weeks... £400 worth of damage I've been quoted at, but now I'm stuck, as they've wrote my car off, will my car be a CAT D/C? Or whatever? My insurance haven't even seen the car...

If they have already written it off, then it will be a CAT D or most probabbly a CAT C. After its been repaired it will need to have VIC check, which is a bit like an ultra strict MOT test. Have they seen pictures of the damage or nothing at all? Surely they should send out an assesor to look at it, as thats what happened to my moms car. Usually with the age and low value of the car the pictures will be enough to write it off. The fact that it has any damage at all and a claim has been made, is enough, they dont consider condition, all they see is an old car unfortunately. My moms MK1 Golf escaped purely because it was a classic, and was insured with an agreed valuation.

They've been send pictures, I've got a family friend who does everything in regard to insurance repairs etc. So he gave me a quote, just need to get it in writing and send it to them and they'll give me a cheque for £400.

It's nothing like an mot test, they just check the car in question is the car that was written off and not a stolen car using the plates of an accident damaged one

Imagine if someone claimed on your insurance for an accident in a place you've never been!

I had a problem back at the begining of the year when someone was saying i'd crashed my car in scotland - when I've never even been there.. That's when you get fucked over!

Luckily i know a very good solicitor, who got the claim thrown out due to the claimant being unable to prove i was even in scotland, let alone in the car, which was a Saxo and had a similar number plate to mine (only it had difference of some sort at the left end of the plate).

I want a good selaciter
