Model: Mk1 Polo 3door LX

Currently:

Engine: Mk2 Golf 1.3 pierburg carb ran.

Suspension: Mk3 Polo GT shocks and springs.

Brakes: Grooved discs, standard rear brakes.

Wheels and Tyres: Mk2 Polo Coupe S steel wheels.

Exterior Styling: Everything is standard!

Interior Styling: Mk3 Polo GT seats front and back with original latch style front seat belts!

ICE and Security: Kenwood single CD player with removable face plate and standard speakers. It's got laser beams, flame throwers and 24 hour guard dog security so don't even try it!

Comments: Only had the car a month and never fails to make me grin, it's had a new fuel tank fitted since buying it and does an impressive 32mpg even when I kick its head in.

The future:

Engine: I have a choice of several engines, all from Golfs. The easiest option is to remain with the current engine which has a new distributor, however on offer is another 1.3 Mk2 Golf engine and a 1.4 Mk3 Golf engine.

So, the engine is going to receive a very subtle modification, in the form of GSXR bike carbs! Aiming for a 20% increase in engine power. Need an inlet manifold cooking up then it should be all down hill from there.

Suspension: 40mm lowering springs coming in a couple of weeks, then when I've got money left over a real kit. Strut braces will also be used.

Brakes: Mk1 Golf GTI front discs, carriers and calipers will be arriving in a couple of weeks, should make it much more fun.

Wheels and tyres: They might be changed for Porsche ATS alloys or 9 spoke Mk1 Golf alloys.

Exterior styling: The car is going to get a full respray in a few months in gloss black I think.

ICE and security: I'm going to get some speakers to fit into the parcel shelf that's already been drilled and ready for fitting. Also getting a remote central locking kit.

Comments: When/If I get all this work done the car should be great to drive, sound good and have good handling, fingers crossed!

It's not the steering wheel that appears in the brochure for the mk1 polo LX and it blocks your view of the speedo so don't think it's standard!

Going ahead with the bike carb conversion and gti brakes within the next couple of weeks after finally getting paid from work properly.

Right update, been paid, time to spend the cash!

Got myself some lowering springs, looking at getting uprated dampers, but maybe next month. Also posting off the carbs to bogg brothers for them to cook up an inlet manifold.

All I need now is a mount for the accelerator cable, choke cable and a fuel pressure regulator and i'm set. Also an airbox! Not sure what i'm doing about that though.

anybody know if this MK1 is still about? would really love to know as it was my old car, still wish i hadn't sold it but needs must back then.

oh my god . my mate bought this last year it was matt black and had 8" classic`s in black . its now jazz blue with 6" white classic`s . cant believe its had 3 make overs now

Haha will do, it's now gt'd (soon to have a weber dtml) in jazz blue on bbs ra's. Although I may have to sell soon due to work :(

Just in case you guys are interested, I've recently purchased this daemon and putting it back to original (though might have to save a little before i get rid of the "jazz blue" paint!!

Just thought i should let you know it's back in safe hands with someone sensible who has a lot of time (and money :( ) on his hands!
