I'm basically doing the same as you but further into it. Are you going to try and fit the VAG COM and Mk4 dials?

I'm not sure really .....i know i would like mk2 clocks with a rev counter on em mine is the standard 1 with mph and a good old quartz on it as far as the vag com can i have that altho i want mk2 clocks or if i hav vag com do i need mk4 dials? ?

Problem i have with the Mk2 clocks is they only go up to 100mph so I'm hoping to butcher my clocks and surround to have the Mk4 dials. This is why its taking so long compared to guys on here that do the engine swap over a weekend.

Nothing should be rushed if u want to do it right.......have u used all afh? ???? Gearbox, stater motor, driveshafts etc, ,,

Gearbox is no good, but you can sell it for £100 and buy a 5 speed Mk2/3 Polo gearbox for £50 or less so quids in. Starter motor yes, driveshafts are the original ones to my Mk2. I'm using a Mk2 alternator though with a Mk4 pulley. So the Mk2 loom can power the car lights and use as much of the Mk4 loom for other jobs.

I'm using as much as possible to hopefully make a nice reliable motor with the benefits of the VAG COM as more and more mechanics only know how to plug in a laptop.

I have created so many jobs for myself though, the car was supposed to be finished back in May haha

I thought i might be able to use it I'm sure if i was reading correctly some1 on here used all afh and had to bend an engine mount 5 mm or somthin I'm sure of it ......either way are those 8p boxes any good? Are they very rare or will i find 1 simple enuff on here or ebay maybe? ? Plus i think the injection/ecu is the way for me sounds like you are makin urs well vag com and all for diag etc etc might have to copy that.....u aint patent it yet have you lol

What year is the 16v?

Its an r reg 96 or 97 i think......dragon green with sunroof and standard alloys on it and central lockin and e/w

Why is the gearbox no good Keerly? If you're worried about the output flanges being too wide, these can be swapped from a mk2 to make the 6n box compatible.

Hello prankstar is the procedure for changing flanges easy? ? Any special tools needed? ? I was hoping to go all afh ......could i use afh driveshafts also? ?? Just the mk2 shafts were a bit nocky nocky probly be able to get newer 6n shafts or service em new ball joints etc

I'm curious about 6n rear beam aswel would that fit? ?

Whilst the flanges may be interchangeable, I'm not sure if you could convert the 6N box from cable to rod shift.

Of course, is it a cable or rod change?

6n rear beam won't fit. Why would it?

Just curious thats all p.s i didnt know the 6n gear linkage was a cable thought it would be rod like most cars iv seen before .......nt many lol

P.s is there anyone with an 8p gearbox they might wanna part with in a couple of months? ?

May be worth checking the box to see if its a rod type. I know some 6n boxes are as I have one. Maybe all AFH boxes are cable though :?
