For the rub strips up the side of the car, you could try 'Sticky Stuff Remover' from Halfords. Yes, it's from Halfords. and yes, it's got a pretty uninventive name, and, when you go to pick it up it looks like a cheap aerosol designed for removing BluTack from painted surfaces. But it actually works well! It's like £5 for a can. If you go sparingly it'll do for both sides of the car.

Come to think of it, whilst you're at Halfords you could also buy some Lens repair tape. You can cut a strip of it and put it over your clear reversing light, making it red. It just cleans it up a little. Mine has been like that for a good 10 or 11 months and it still looks good. Check out the start of my build thread for some pics!

cheers mate ill do that i was meaning to take the strips off yesterday , i would have just taken my time and picked all the glue stuff off but that spray sounds alot better i was just gonna tint my lights :p

yeah i had a look earlier , you are car is really tidy , it needs to be a tad lower tho :) have u got anymore of those long bolts that u used for the golf mk3 elbow intake? as I'm picking one up later and didnt relise u needed them :(

You can tell me my car is high when your car is low. Haha.

Those bolts came from a clutch casing, i had others but they were too long. What you could do is go for a length of stud bar, cut it into three lengths, and screw them into the throttle body. Then you can hold the elbow joint on with three nuts.

I'm concidering doing a 1.3 gt conversion on this early next year , is it simple enough?

they are very tight if never been cracked off as max said above i used a 10ft scaf bar and a breaker bar , the breaker bar would even make it budge ! so the more leverage the better but make sure the socket is on the nut proper as you dont want to round it

List of things for early next year...

. bike carbs

. gt head and cam

. strip the back seats out ( not 100% on this )

. get a 80/80 spring and shock set up ( maybe coilovers on the back )

. flare arches

. new steering wheel

. maybe bonnet bra

. get the bumpers resprayed black as theyve faded ( done ) a whole can of back to black done the trick

. finish off the wheels

cant really think of anything else atm but I'm sure theres more :p

Only a small update ...

I dewipered it today :)

then I decided to clean behind the number plate as it look filthy

then got new number plates to finish it off

whoever done the respray on the tailgate of this car is a complete idiot ... i just went to debadge the boot and loads of paint came off with it

I've bought myself some rear 6n coilover for £15 such a bargain :p just need to get some 80mm springs and shocks for the front then i can put it all on :)
