my new OAP work ride

Featured Replies

Ok so I've had to get a new vehicle for work as my trusty old caddy is too far gone lol my dad had this going for £5k which is cheap so i had a look and with family discount got it for £3500 :) i still have my polo until end of january but using this daily as my work ride. Question is what should i do to it? i cant lower it due to the amount of weight i carry and its just not practical day to day. My initial thoughts were 18" LM reps, fly eye headlights, hids and black roof but i want it to stand out a bit. If anyone can do me a photoshop i would be most grateful.

By the way its a 1.5dci so only £30 tax a year and £380 a year insurance :)

i want it to stand out a bit

Spray it fluro orange then :p

Sell it for something that isn't hideous.

18's on a Clio? Are you 17yo?

Go hard as nails if you want a car with balls to match it's job. Slightly stretch some big sidewalls on some bullet steels (say 195/55-15s on some 15x8's). Lower/stance it just a touch with around a 50/30 drop max, standard dampers, it'll be just as capable and comfortable.

Use RenaultSport front wings (they're plastic) and bumper so it has the meathead to back up the wheels, this will stop it looking back-heavy.

Next year it will be worth 37p like all the other clios out there

Shoving 18" wheels on an already 4x4 looking car is not going to look good at all, I'd look at what renualt have to offer OEM wise like wheels, bumpers ect :)

Already got some clio 200 sport wings but i cannot find a bumper anywhere!! steels sound a good idea but will 15s be big enough? there 16s that are on it now and they look tiny :/ i only thought of 18s to fill the arches and LMs are pretty cool but yeh steels would probs look the dogs.

regards

I agree everything that Mikey says!

At the end of the day though, it's fucking awful.

I'd rather not spend money on it to be honest!

You should just use it as a car and not devalue it by messing around.

There will be no market for a modified one afterwards.

cut your loses sell it and bye a polo

The bigger tyres would sort the size out, might even give you a bit more circumference as opposed to less (various tyre sizes around that mark anyway). And alloys tend to need to be bigger as the patterns make them look small, especially when they have no dish.

The only thing to check is brake clearance, can't see that being an issue. You could go down the banded route with 16in Laguna steels? Lower profile rubber isn't gonna give you that look though.

Renault are VW fitment, btw..

He suggests he needs something with a bit more room, what Polo is he gonna get for £3.5k ? Not a 6R so it'd be a 9n3 and the boot's hardly massive. Fabia estate? I'd rather have the Clio i think!

Let's cut the polo out the equation, Passat estate?

Scrap it

Spend as little as possible on it, regard it as a tool for work and spend the money you save on an old vw as a second car/project/toy.

Moneys not really an issue for me as works quite good and i have another part time job, I'm thinking the laguna 16s with a 195/55 tyre stretched over a 8" rim would be best for me, only lowering springs i can find are eibachs which are -30 front and an idiotic -25 rear :/ I'm going be keeping this until it dies so I'm not gonna loose any money really as it will more than pay for itself. I going to start collecting the parts for it now and when I've got everything it will all be fitted and painted in my week off at the start of feb, if anyone sees a clio200 front bumper let me know :)

regards

It will never ever look good, dont waste your time or money, if moneys no problem for you why did you buy that?
