Just got this Professional Socket Set with ratchet and combination spanner set for my birthday. It is the 150 piece set.

Got a lifetime guarentee on them so it's perfect for just starting up.

Was just wondering if anyone has had any experience with these tools and was just wondering what sort of quality they are.

The quality is awesome to be fair, faultless.

I've had a 1/4" socket set for about 3 years now, and the ratchet has only just started to slip. Not bad for the abuse its had.

Its out lived the snap on set i had, which was 3 times the price.

Yeah iv heard they are pretty good quality to be fair, can't wait till the weather clears up and I can get stuck in!

With them having the lifetime guarentee aswell you can't really go wrong for £200.

Know a few people who've got them and they're hard to fault.

I've had a set like this for at least 3 years now (probably longer) and its been a great buy. The 3/8 ratchet died a death a long time ago but I was using it on a bolt that was far too tight to be using such a small ratchet, also the screw driver/allen head tools have broken one by one along the way too but all the main stuff has been faultless. For the money I honestly don't think you could do much better. Mine have been used in every weather from rain to snow as well and are always being misused

While we are on the subject has anyone got any experience with the halfords torque wrenches? The only thing putting me off buying one atm is that I need one that reads low torques but also one that goes up to around 90nm. With the halfords ones i would need to buy the small and middle sized one to cover that range

My torque wrench has showed equal quality to the wratchet sets to be fair,

Got it re calibrated through work and after about 2 years of service it was 0.3% out, not too bad!

We usually have our wrenches done every quarter.

iv been using mine for 3 years now and only ju had to replace the 3/8th rachet mech. even after using it on heavy duty stuff!

I'm not fortunate enough to own a big set, but i have a little set and a few odds and ends. When i need a new tool for something, i go to Halfords.

They get ripped a lot, i've sometimes put the boot in myself because they do tend to deserve it, but if Halfords went under their professional range of tools are what i'd miss the most.

Can't fault them for price, a lot of tools go down the same lines I believe, my snapon impact sockets are identical to a friends mac ones!

Think the sockertry's mostly sealey, which is no bad thing.

Ide heard alot of good things about halfords advanced so i bought myself a 3/8 ratchet, extension bar and set of sockets yea it was ok for the money but i wouldnt describe it as great quality i have a teng 1/2 drive set which is 2 years old now and is far far far superior in quality. The teng ratchet feels so much nice in its ratchetting action. As an maintenance engineer i use these tools everyday. Halfords are good for the odd use on your car.

like said allen and scewdriver sockets snap (they get changed warranty)

the ratchets req a ratchet overhall kit once in a while whick are about £10 mainly 1/4 +3/8

Good kit for the money i think have a few bits that seem to be holding up well , i bought this box last year in the sale ..

I believe some of the early high end Halfords stuff was made by Snap On but think almost all is now supplied by a big manufacturing company called Danaher and is made in the far east .

I've had the 100 piece set before I lost it all, fairly good apart from the hex/star sockets being a bit weak

It all I needed for the g40 tbf :)

My entire tool collection is Hellfrauds.

But to be fair, even though the comapny isnt that good and its usually 50% more expencive than every other store.. their tools are absolutally amazing.

I used to work for halfords and hardly ever had any tools returned.. the odd one torque bit but no ratches or anything.

The tools are made by Draper so they are amazing quality.

The only fault i can find with the 150 piece toolkit is that it needs brake pipe spanners and it would be the perfect tool kit.

I've had a set of the advanced ratchet spanners (metal mechanisms) for a couple of years now. Granted, I don't use them everyday, but they're still fine. I don't use them for cracking tight fastenings off or doing the final nip up though.

Work's another matter, here most of my tools are Gedore, which I don't rate too strongly. Yeah they're meaty but the thick coating is like razor blades when it starts to crack/flake.

Most of the stuff coming in now is Draper Expert, seems alright. I don't have much of a say in what I'm given as we all have to have the same stuff.

I use Allen keys a lot, i always have Bondhaus which I like.
