Seeing the pair of mechy cam covers, is the change of plan to fit two engines?

(only jealous)

Had no luck finding a cam :( don't want to get my carbs set up then have to get them set up again after finding a cam! Gets confusing as some cams I found list my engine but also a gt on the same cam, but I thought hydro heads use a totally different cam to a mech head?

Anyone know of any for sale or have one for sale? For my HK

I'm going to run an Audi v8 with 2 small block heads so I can use both covers

Get a Newman 284*!! Max said he is ordering soon. it has to be a mechy cam. failing that get a HH or GF cam.

Arun I need to come over and help you with bluesy engine

I've got my old golfs engine, not sure of the code but I'm going to bolt a ko3 to it running g40 management and a seat Ibiza mk1 dizzy fitted with a gt/g40 trigger wheel and hall sender.

Going to try and get it ready for the rolling road day and then clubmsvs track day both in feb.

Will post some pics up on Sunday eve :)

I would guess you would need an uprated cam like you would in a hydro head to work with the K03. but it sounds good dude. test it to distruction?

I messaged max but he didnt reply :'(

but yeah I'd like to order one with you max :)

Did you try and ring me the other night lad? Lost my phone the night I saw you last so haven't had your number since  Thought I recognised the number but wasn't sure.

You'll need a boss for your blue temp sender fitting somewhere in the water system too! Which I can help with if you want :-)

  • 4 weeks later...

I am contacting Newman myself this week. I will let you know Craig.

I have since sold me weber conversion for Weber throttle bodies. I just wanted to show off this mock up picture off tbh haha

Still not sure on a GF cam, fork out for a Newman or push the boat out and get a Schrick. I also need some management of some sort it run it.

Sorry about the lack of communication guys,

I've had some time away from cars, but back on it now more than ever.

I've been in talks with David again from Newman, i've been quoted £135+VAT & Postage for the hydraulic heads,

And £150+VAT & Postage for the mechanical heads.

I'm actually going to be using the hydraulic GT head on my short term project (NA 1.4) , so will be buying a hydraulic type cam, which will be on the 25th of this month, i can also put an order in for other if you want? Obviously will need the money up front.

Winston, that looks PENG!

Max, you're getting as bad as Erico regarding making your mind up!

Cheers dude. I am blown away with how it looks!

Max has always been the original mind changer!

Cheers for getting back to me and after all the hassling Max. Sadly I am going to have to pass for now. The money pot is 100% empty! :(

?

I think he's suggesting that price seems very cheap? Which it does!

  • Author

Ah, yeah they're the prices i've been quoted.

Cheap tbh. Don't forget this is straight from the manufacturer, no one is adding on a commision.

Secret Plans :ninja: They do involve cutting up a few spare heads i have lying around!

I'm aiming for 100bhp/litre on as small as budget as possible

Dont make them secret ffs.

100bhp/1000cc would be an awesome acheivement. Whats the displacement going to be?

Its a hk block so will be 1272 or there abouts, I'm looking out for gk pistons which would be nice, but the main work is going to be in the head. I've got a spare 1.0 head to cut up and asses water channels and oil galleries as a rough reference.

Still, the Dbilas cams are £375 odd! And that was a mates rates price through Regal Autosport!

Thanks for letting us know your findings from Newman though, you might have just earned them a good few sales! 8-)

lol, i should take a commision!

Urm, i'll be ordering a 272 from them on the 25th, so anyone wanting one we could maybe sort something out.

I thoughts NA tuning rule of thumb was 100hp/1000cc should be achievable
