Using the mk2 loom connected the radiator in as its meant to be all beit a bit tight on the fan,

But the fan isn't kicking in any ideas anyone no fuses are blown from what I can see

Take the plug of that goes to the switch in the rad, put a wire in both connectors, it should kick in, if it does then you need a new switch, if it doesn't then check there's a live.

If what supermario's suggestion draws up a blank, hook a live upto a switch or the ignition to keep you going during running in/testing.

Cheers lads, lad I know has a spare fan going to try it tonight see if the fan was broken.

Must admit I don't recall hearing it before :/

I ran a wire straight from the rad switch plug (which has a live) to the fan and nothing happens

Car now runs has 5 gears pulls like mad sounds like a tractor

Just waiting on some new inlet rubbers as its leaking alot of air then it will be sorted!

Well today changed the rubbers on the inlet.

But now turns out the manifold is leaking at the head so need to re-seal it.

Just did a 70mile trip though with no issue atall only used a quarter of a tank too.

Well this happened today

Clutch cable snapped.

Another problem - went to a job interview yesterday hopefully I get the job but its a 30 mile round trip need to get a cheap run around as I don't want to sell this

Yeah couldnt fault it yesterday I did 100 miles

Its just a diesel would be better that's all

be fine with the 5 speed man. shouldnt be too bad on a long trip

Been having a right mare recently, the carbs keep (nearly!) falling off I have to stop after every drive to tighten the jubilee clips.

Today I put the original clips on that came off the carbs and they seem to be doing the job.

Basically my next problem - my throttle sticks all the time. I need to find a better place to run it granted but am I meant to be running a throttle return spring? Is anyone else? And anyone is particular

I've done it as althought the cable seems free its still abit sticky..

Just a little spring on the throttle wheel and attach it somewhere secure.

Throttle may feel a little stiffer but rather that then sticking lol

Yeah you HAVE to use a seperate return spring otherwsise it takes ages to return back to idle.

No bike I've ever owned had a spring loaded twist grip, a couple had dual cables one to open the throttle and the other to close it

Yeah they dont have them in the grip unless its after market throttle grip ..

Like nige says they have a return cable ... Which in this case you cant really use so a spring will have to do

Just been offered the job at the interview I went to last week so lets see how the polo copes with 60 miles a day I don't want to sell it!!! Ah

Or I keep it and move to Buckingham...

Thats strange, every bike i worked on before my current job had a small spring in the grip. They would sometimes bend back on themselves and youd get a crunchy sticky throttle.

Anyway, get a return spring and it will work fine, depends how strong the spring is on the carbs i suppose.
