  • Picking up the new coupe Saturday. Once I start work on it ill make a new thread pretty excited

I'm sure I could sort something but it wouldn't be a quick process at all everything would have to be from scratch so a massive ball ache, time = money unfortunately and I think it would take me bloody ages on my own haha! And as I'm a aware after researching pre preg carbon parts are 2/3x more expensive than wet lay. Its all over priced ha

Sorry dude

As for skinning I can't comment I've never done it, there's a few good lads on edition they don't use pre preg they use wet lay up. So again I am kind of useless sorry mate

Edited by matt-c

fair enuf man thanks anyway

If you finish one up, I'll stick a couple good coats of lacquer on for you!

Dude.... id be interested in some carbon items, just small things like if you're game for making some??

What kinda things?

I'm flat out at the moment the flap was made in a few lunch breaks,

And cheers dude, do you spray then? I may need some bits done on the coupe

just random engine bay bits

Radiator cover, ht lead cover, custom dizzy cover, oil/water filler caps maybe. cambelt cover. Bits like that really.

And yeah, he can spray 8-) like a BOSS! Finish on that G <3

I seee! As I only use pre preg carbon ill need to make Moulds for everything.. Think skinning is the best option for that sort of stuff as other wise it won't be cheap, only thing I can sort fairly cheap is flat sheet like 300x300 because ill use scrap.

My works pretty shit hot on material usage which is annoying for me wanting to make parts!

But that's why I haven't really advertised any services, I will make more and more bits for the coupe overtime and duplicate what I do and sell them on. But it'll be slow and don't want too lead anyone on, cheers dude

yeah man I pretty much do it all, if you get something you want doing just lemme no and we'll go from there about finishes etc.

Needs some fettling so its sits right but at the end of the day its a fuel flap haha

Need to remove the fuel stain under the flap too wet and dry I'm thinking? I'm pretty clueless when it comes to paint repair.

Also not heard anything about the beetle yet :(

Plans for tomorrow,

Brakes

10mm spacer on the drivers rear to compensate for the beam not being central

Gonna try to maintain enthusiasm and give it a proper clean/clay/polish/wax but well see about that one

Chop a coil out the front too hopefully

Pointless update but yeah..

Just won some CBR600 carbs on eBay - worryingly cheap haha

Ah well they'll be getting serviced anyway

What's a AFH? I don't no much about all the diff polo engines.

And do you have lil compartments in your boot? Or is it the picture playing tricks on me?

  • Author

AFH is out the 6n the 1.4 16v model

The previous owner had a boot build in the the square you can see by the loom is where an amp used to be, I'm not really into my audio in cars so won't be putting any back

Ooo yea I no the one, 100 bhp if I'm not mistaken? My sister use to have one, was quite nippy!

  • Author

That's the one dude should be a big improvement on the 1.0 4 speed haha!

Matey boy is currently not responding about the carbs hopefully ill get a message in the morning.

Aa I didn't read it right, didn't realise you was sticking a set of carbs on aswell, I don't no too much about them tbh.

Keep bolting bits on like that and ill struggle to keep up with you haha.

Safe to say these are going to be a whole new learning curve haha!

Reading as much info as I can in the FAQ section,

Just the inlet manifold, and engine to go then on to the little things ... Its coming together though considering i had no parts a week ago.

I want it done by may at the very latest though that's my target :D

My target for my afh was May last year yet I would be impressed it I manage May this year

The more you read on here the bigger the spec list gets in my experiance.

Haha!

Maybe I'm being slightly optimistic then! Its my first conversion I'm getting pretty clued up on the ignition side of things but the fueling is melting my brain!

Totally agree I was going to use a facet now I'm looking at a bike fuel pump I'm lost haha its going to be a massive money pit though that's all I know for certain!
