2000 6n2 polo de-wiper / wiper delete guide

Featured Replies

after replacing the rear window motor today on my GTi, i thought i might aswell take a few pics and make a guide to help someone

what ever you do, keep the blade on the arm! as an arm with no blade could smash the window

1. you start with the cap

2. standard flat head screw driver, wedge between cap and washer jet, twist and the cap should pop off

3. should look like this

4. at this angle, pull away to the right and the cap will come off

5. 13mm spanner to undo nut

6. another flat head (or two! one either side) place between arm and rubber seal that sit on the glass, then twist (if tough, WD that sh*t up :unibrow: )

7. a T20 torx bit is required here, open the tail gate, and there is a screw in each handle of the inside trim of the tail gate

8. to remove the trim, where the trim meets the glass, pull down from each corner and you'll hear a pop, then slide the trim towards the top of the tailgate (towards the 3rd middle brake light)

9. once the trim is removed, you'll see this; pop the washer pipe out by hand, and pry the clips off on either side of the plug

10. 3 10mm nuts here to undo, the nut and washer may stick to the rubber seals underneath, just pry them from the seal with a flat head

11. once this is down, keep your hands on the motor, and lower the tailgate so you can see wear the wiper arm was. wiggle the motor left to right and down wards whilst keeping an eye on the little stalk on the out side.

12. ta da! bob's your uncle and fanny's your aunt! you have de-wipered your polo! all you need is a blanking plug (an local motorshop or online auction site should have them

happy dubbing!
