Model - MK3 Polo 86c

Engine - 1.0 4 Speed

Suspension - On PhilJ shock & spring set, 80 front, rear adjustable. Polybushed all around.

Brakes - Drilled and grooved disks with green stuff pads.

Wheels / tyres - Corsa B 3 spokes in white. (WINTER)

Exterior styling - Rear bumper sprayed red, front bumper glossed black, clear indicators, smoked scirocco side repeaters.

Interior styling - GT steering wheel, scirocco front seats, looking for a rev counter if anyone is selling one let me know.

ICE and security - Nothing currently, will be fitting a basic headunit with some 6x9 FLi speakers cut into the parcel shelf.

This car came up for sale on here a few days ago for a bargain price of £200. Within 20 minutes of seeing the car for sale it was all mine! Oh, i didnt pay £200 though, i only payed £170. What a steal, i couldnt believe he would move on the price at all!

The car has 4 previous owners, stamps for service history in the book up till 40,000, currenly on 63,000. Loads of paperwork and all the manuals are still there etc.

Modifications and Specifications go as follows..

General Modifications.

The car was previously owned by Andy Mole, L770 BFK. He done a lot of the work which is currently on it including a full stainless steel powerflow exhaust, polybushed all round, drilled and grooved disks and green stuff pads, corsa 3 spoke alloys in white, mk3 golf elbow and K&N air filter, clear indicators, smoked scirocco side repeaters, de badged grille, re located washer bottle, scirocco seats and lowered all around on PhilJ shock and spring kit.

The last owner had a bit of an accident in the car which snapped all the clips on the front bumper and left a dent in the passenger wing. A new bumper is now fitted and i am just waiting for the wing to be straightened out by a mate.

The interior is in rough condition but i have managed to source 2 genesis front seats in replacement for the mis matched seats currently in. Also got some rev counter clocks which will be getting fitted!

Jobs left to do..

- Get the bumper back on properly.

- Change the interior.

- Fit a stereo and speakers.

- Lower the rear a touch more.

- Tidy up the bodywork.

- Tie the exhaust back up properly.

Possibly front bumper, boot carpet, parcel shelf..

Lupo now sold, insurance money all ready for the polo.

Today I fixed up the exhaust properly, put the seats on the runners (I'd suggest these seats to anybody, comfy as hell) & just tidied it up in general.

She's ready for the road now and I will be insured as of tomorrow and the plans have now all fully hit the green light so keep checking up for regular updates!

It's going lower tomorrow mate, just haven't done much with her over the winter! 80mm down on front looking for the same rear.

Looks like this week I'm buying a 3F engine fitted running approx 85bhp anyone give me an insight into what they're worth/how reliable/quick etc?

It has a stainless steel 4 branch, engine itself and 5 speed box.

It doesnt have the plastic boot lip panel anymore. It DID but I know andy, and he kindly took the trim off and sold it to me before the car sold :p Look at my build and you will see it. Shame to see this car got mis treated. Was a nice car when andy had it. It went really well (GT cam and 1.4 golf throttle body IIRC) and took him to holland and back. It was robbery at that price. Hope you get it back to its former glory :-)

Halfway there already mate, soon have a whole interior rebuild, engine fitted this week and a nice new set of alloys.

I got the engine, box, radiator, air box, clocks, 2 looms, Ecu, Bosch cosworth fuel pump (Worth £100), a coil pack & a grille.

All for £250, another bargain!

Jobs on for tomorrow though are to strip the current paint off the bumper, inspect the fuel tank leak and give it a good muck out!

Got it up on the jack today to see where the leak is coming from on the tank, didn't find where the leak was coming from but it's on the filler neck. Iv decided just to buy a new tank for it and should have a new one next week!

But, i have had a lot of trouble lately with the old motor. Basically check all fuel in and out pipes and its fuelling well, turned out the coil pack was screwed.

Changed that for another I had an it started straight up. After 10 mins of driving turned it off, went back to it and it wouldn't start again. Checked the lead going from the coil pack to the distributor cap thing (on the side of the engine that the leads go to, I don't know the name for the part.)

Turning the car over and the plug didn't seem to be live and wasn't sparking. Does anyone have idea idea of my problem? The battery also seems to die quite often but charges straight back up, also fuel economy isn't too good & it smells asif it's burning or it smells of really strong fuel if this helps anyone?

Any help really appreciated!

Today I finally got the car running. There was no spark coming from the head lead coming from the top of the coil pack which leads to the distributor cap, changed the lead, cleaned all the connectors of corrosion, changed the coil pack and still, nothing. Checked all ignition leads, fuse box, etc. Still nothing, gave it a pico scope too and still nothing different.

My dad suggested we reset the ECU, to do this we disconnected the battery for 30 mins then connected it all back up and give it another shot, it sprang into life! Let it run for while, switched it off and it again started straight up!

Problem solved!

During all of this I was removing the paint on the bumper which I was given from CHRIS2911. It was a pain the backside but its slowly coming off. This will continue tomorrow until its all off :)

The bumper has shaped itself to the shape it's been kept so its sort of rounded on one side.

This is a picture of how the bumper came on today, I'm about half way down now. You may also be able to tell what I mean by the shape of the bumper, anyone who knows the easiest way of solving this let me know!

Fitted rev counter clocks today. Over the moon with the end product.

Very simple job and makes the whole difference
