  • just popped on there myself a ford anglia that has naturally started to rust = cool: a corsa that has had alot things done to it = not cool spotted this guy has a thread on there aswell

rat is just lazy imo..

any plans for it? current spec?

And completely un-imaginative....

But for the 1st time I've thought those wheels actually look kinda ok :?

There are two kindas of this sort of rat look these days. generic rat look (nu-rat, shat-look, whatever its being tagged as now) which just looks lazy and all the cars look the same even tho they are trying to be unique. It's like ratting by numbers. roof rack, check.. sticker bombing, check.. wonky number plate, check..

Then once in a while a proper rat look car appears and even starch haters of rat look have to admit it looks pretty cool. On these rare occasions the recipe tends to be lashing of imagination with equal doses of not giving the slightest fuck about the car.

Spot the difference

Imo rat look only truly works when its not generic and taken to extremes (rough as fuck, low as fuck, wide as fuck, loud as fuck, not all but at least some of these), you asked for comments

In a scene where people are trying to he different, everything still looks the same, poor show imo. Even mighty car mods managed to make a half respectable rat look golf while trying to take the piss out of the rat look scene

Rolo!

His polo Guy... that looks fairly battered and abused yet filled most of the above criteria you mention aswell.

PERFECT example tbh, sums it up.

oh i do love rat discussions!

That guy who made two face, shoulda left it there as that was cool as fuck. I lost respect for him when he started ruining that polo

What guy says is pretty bang on... But you also need to know that even if you actually manage to make something different to the rest, wont neceserilly be cool. Take this audi for example. Never seen anything like it before, fair play to some of the ideas.. but its just doesnt work, its trying too hard.

It should be left to these guys IMO

Ever since I first saw that Audi, I hated it !

It looks just looks like an overly slammed A4 avant thats had a front ender, promptly driven through a number plate factory then been attacked by a tin-opener!

The air-cooled boys and girls do it best IMO, as do the folks on the hot rod scene.

And never once have I ever heard George utter the word 'Rat' in any form to describe his cars

I wish people would stop using Polos to carry out their 'imaginitive' creations, it brings a bad name to all Volkswagen lovers

He got well deep when people told him his polo looked shit

He was intentionally making his car look shit, yet gets offended when people say it looks shit, go figure

If people are going to spend time on a car, you'd be as well making it look better, not worse. Natural patina has a place and adds to the charachter but it's a shame when it's intentionally done as it's forced. I'm a hater towards any pretender but if people force rat and i'm convinced it's real, that's good enough for me.

All the negative comments have been said before, so I won't repeat them but I'll trot out the old line that it's your car you do what you want. I do have to agree somewhat with Arun about Polos being used as guinea pigs. A shame really as they are becoming more rare and thankfully mk2s are mostly being spared the rat look more often these days (when really, due to age, they are most likely to be 'rat'). I guess it's not such a big deal if the car is a beater, but this (and many other victims) looks pretty solid.

Lol at Ratta's car love it. did your car appear in golf+ as well guys?

Did you really just try to use a little pic in a a show report as some kinda of Willy waving tool?

It was in a picture in a write up about a show, my jetta was in the back ground of one one year. Maybe I should start shouting about that on the net?

hahaa!

Just because your car ends up in a mag doesn't mean its decent, I've seen plenty of shit in magazines before

Guy, i think it got a full feature somewhere, could be wrong though lol.

I'd probab;y say the other way round, at least the second one's done with a sense of humour and a bit of individuality, the first one's like a box-ticking exercise.

Oh god Steve.... i dunno what to say

I'm sure theres a story behind Rolo's....

Started prepping it for paint then couldnt be fucked? Sure i heard that somewhere...

Thing is, Ratta's ticks more boxes

Stupid roof rack

Stupid shit on roof rack

Stupid arches

Stupid wheels that dont fit

Stupid stuff tied to front

Stupid wheel

Stupid gearknob

Stupid interior in general

Stupid Stupid Stupid

Rolo's... low on nice wheels with original arches modded to suit (instead of welding some barrels to the side of the car)

Some rusty bodywork and a number plate falling off due to what looks like a massive hole behind it

ratta's mk3 is pure box ticking exercise, it just looks like he's gone through every 'build' thread on rat-look.com and copied a couple of things from each one

Its on hydros....... box ticked eh????

Hahaha

Lol at Ratta's car love it. did your car appear in golf+ as well guys?

Mine has been, got a nice comment to with it too about it being simple yet effective. I doubt they would have said the same about his....

Doubt they had chance to say much at all between all the laughing

Only reason it got a feature is because they knew it would sell copies, not because it was liked (in my mind anyway)

Haven't been on ratlook.com in some time, might go and be a keyboard warrior
