I have a VW polo 2004

the left indicator on my dash is not working as correctly as it should

when i press the hazzards on the right arrow on my dash works where as the left arrow on my dash is very dim

where as on the outside the car indicators are working as they should be

I have looked into getting a replacement dash for my car

but i understand i may need to reprogram it for the correct millage

if someone can help me out with this i will be greatful

Right i have solved this problem:

1. Move the steering wheel as far back and as low as it will go

2. there you will see a panel that can easily be pulled out

3. under that you will see 2 Hex scews that can easily be removed becarful when removing as to not to drop the screws

4. lightly pull the instument panel out

5. unplug the power cable by pulling out the tab and gently pull on the cord to disconect it

6. unlatch the green and purple pug and pull away the whole unit

you should have now disconnected the whole unit out

7. on the back you will see a number of clips to get inside the unit undo them all and the whole unit will come apart in half

8. from here you can remove the PCB board with all the dials inplace

9. remove all the needles using the plain knife and paper trick rembering to note where each needle it pointing

10. next remove the plastic dials

11. flip it over and you will see the brackets holding in the white plastic moulding with the LCD dislay

12. carfully bend the prongs out so that they can slide throught the holes in the PCB board

13. now carfully seperate the white plastic mould with the LCD display becareful no to touch the contacts

14. you should now be left with a PCB board display examin it for the bad solder joint

15. I found that my LED has gone on my indicator so I replaced it with a new one

16. solder in a new LED rembering the Negative contact is on to the top

and reassemble in reverse order

I hope this will help

Sorry no photos where taken it was a tiral and error before i got this fixed

at least this has saved me from Hundrends of pounds to sort it out

to be fixed with a 10p eletrical component
