You need vag-com for the timing.

Even then it cant be adjusted.

So what would need to be done to set the timing right if it was that?

Uncle said something about bringing a disc up to set the timing which he's getting off a mate. Asked for all engine code, reg no. Etc to make sure he got right one.

Vag-com will just show you the timing, nothing more.

Theres no distributor so nothing physical to adjust, theres a trigger wheel and a sensor somewhere, but its all controlled by the ECU.
