Unfortunately didn't get to see my wheels this weekend but I did get the coolant system working and did away with the bracket and run a new throttle cable to the pedal (don't know why I didn't do that in the 1st place) questions I had about the pedal. It seems really short? Ino that's because the bike throttle is shorter I'm just wondering if anyone had found a way to change this? Also the pedal isn't coming back up and carbs closing of as quick as I like. Was thinking of putting a spring somewhere just wondering how some of you dealt with this? O and iv managed to source myself an eyebrow spoiler so that's on it's way

yeah bike carbs have a shorter pull than the normal throttle. To get around this you either need a bigger throttle wheel on the carbs or mount the throttle cable on the pedal closer to the pivot point.

As for the throttle not closing quick enought I mounted an extract spring on the throttle pedal and also one on the throttle wheel of the carbs.

Pictures of all of this is in my build thread.. i think! :)

Could anybody give me some solid advise on a starting point on the timing? Where it should all be at standard even? I can set top dead center on the cap and rotar arm but have no idea at what angle the distributor should be? Where the pully should be so on... I have been reading up but picking up bits and bobs different opinions and set ups is just making things confusing :( a good starting point would be so helpful?

I just read through peoples answers and to me it isn't very clear about the breather system. i did a drawing on my phone of the stock one. you should consider any open ended hoses for when your headgasket goes. i ended up with a mayo gun shooting slime all over my engine bay and then making loads of smoke from getting hot.

i have put an aluminium rocker in mine since and replaced the hose between the crank case and that chamber thingy with just a straight one because there is no breather nipple on the rocker cover.

the part that comes off the chamber is like a plastic t and it swivels. its not air tight but that doesn't matter i suppose. important to note that its one the crank case side of the filter in case it gets blocked. two small hoses come off of the t piece and they are held together at the end by a short length of hose.

you can block them off or just leave as it is, makes no difference really just looks.

fair enough just run a pipe to that filter then a pipe from that to your catch tank then.

if you dont have the breather on the cam cover it does make these engines breathe a little heavy but not a problem with a tank

what do you mean by breathe heavy? sorry to jack the thread

edit: didn't see the second page of this sorry but ill leave it up for others

Quick update and question, new fuel pump and regulator turned up along with eyebrow spoiler. Will get pictures up soon as my Internet it back up. Car was still poping and banging took the dizzy just to check and the black plastic plate in the back of the dizzy is broken. Does anybody know what this part is called and if I can get a replacement? If not where can I get a reasonably cheap dizzy?

I found a reconditioned distributor on ebay but its 100 pound a bit pricey. does anybody on here know where I could get one cheaper?

I have a spare one of those black bits and a whole distributor spare. pm me if you are interested.
