Vento VR6

Time has come to sell my Vento vr6 due to me and my partner moving abroad.

I've had the car for 2 years now and since day one i have loved owning and driving this rare beast. Being a Vento is rare enough but out of the factory as a vr6 is even more rare and i have never seen another on the road.

Since owning this car i have carried out many modifications, upgrades and maintained the car what ever the cost. When i first took ownership of the car it was fitted with a set of tired standard shocks and lowering springs so these were the first thing to be replaced with a set of budget coilovers which are still doing a perfect job. While installing the coilovers i noticed the rear axle had been polybushed by the previous owner so to complement this i have polybushed the front wishbones.

My next upgrade was to fit black leather seats and doorcards which was sourced from a Golf Highline along with a leather momo steering wheel.

The corrado vr6 speedlines that came with the car had to be changed but none of the 5x100 wheels available took my fancy, so i decided to change the stud pattern to 4x100 by using mk2 Golf Gti discs for the rear and getting front hubs and discs drilled. While doing these modifications i replaced all 4 wheel bearings, track rod ends, CV boots and top mounts for piece of mind.

Now it was running a mk2 Golf stud pattern i had a larger choice of wheels and purchased a set of 16" 7.5 and 9 Keskin KT1, these are fitted with 195/40 and 205/45 Falkens which have plenty of tread left on them.

The next thing to tackle on this rare beast was the paint job. I wanted a colour that would stand out but being a saloon also wanted something subtle. I choose a very dark purple which almost looks black but as soon as the sun touches it the paint sparkles and really stands out. The body work is very straight on this car and all the car needed was 2 new front wings and the rear quarters flaring and smoothing to compensate the new wider wheels. The car had a a full respray including inside and out, the only thing that wasn't painted was the engine bay, this doesn't look out of place too much but i will include some paint for the new owner in case they want to do this.

Last year I had the climate control gased and was surprised how well it worked for the age of the car. I measured the temperature of the air coming out of the vents at idle and it went down too 4.5'c so its excellent for them warm sunny days.

The engine has 117000 miles on this low miles for a vr6 and has never let me down. Last year I replaced the lambda sensor, MAF sensor, spark plugs and HT leads. I have also done all the best vr6 performance modifications including air filter, 6 branch stainless manifold, decat pipe, stainless exhaust and 268 camshafts. The engine sounds very healthy with no chain rattle and pulls very well all the way to the redline in all gears. I think the car would benefit with a performance chip but I haven't had chance to do this yet. If I was to be picky the only thing wrong with the engine is the clutch has a very high biting point but this has been like it since I have had the car, it doesn't slip so its never worried me.

Because the car is lowered I have welded a plate onto the sump to help protect it from our nasty roads, I have also raised the engine with spacers.

The car has just passed the MOT with no advisorys, they did mention that the front jacking points have been flatted but everything is solid. I have just put 6 months TAX on aswell and will carry out an oil change, so it has a clean bill of health for the next owner.
