the handbrake is hydraulic, needs some fair modification for the brake lines to make it work, i.e compeltely re-piping!

a "Poti" is a type of map magnifying lamp, i have one that lives in the car permanently. "Map" is for another map light, "interior" is for a massive interior tube light ove got out of a caravan instead of the mincy normal one, and the "Fan" one is a two speed switch for the radiator fan

did an autotest on sunday, about half way through the day i managed to shear a stud off the pedal box and after that everytime i pressed the brake it would lock the steering up not cool

so today i started stripping the car to see what the damage was like:

dash, steering column and pedal box removed

fracture on the back of the pedal box, this must have been caused by the pedal box flexing

spot the hole where the stud sheered off the bulkhead and took the bulkhead with it

so now I'm going to take the pedal box down my mates unit and weld it up, and reinforce it properly. then I'm going to have to make a plate to reinforce the bulkhead and weld the stud back in. great!

these things do come to test us. maybe it was fate that you were supposed to re-enforce the bulkhead lol

maybe. I've still not got round to fixing it yet, as I'm away at uni.

However, I've just bought some more bits for it on the side, some AP racing stuff (bias box cylinders, etc) and a fibreglass bonnet

I love the interior of this.....how I would like my van to look.......Gets a full 5 stars from me. Big fan!

cheers jon, i haven't even seen or touched the car since easter however i keep buying odd bits for it. everytime i go home i put in the wrench time for as long as possible and feel a bit better about the whole thing

currently making some new vernier pulleys for "project_2006" off here, they look a bit like this

I've also got some AP Racing master cylinders, a balance bar assembly and cable dash adjuster to make a bias pedal box for it too

and my AP cylinders have arrived, some really nice casting and machining on these

they are for my bias pedal box, using 0.700" front and 1.00" rear (17.7mm and 25.4mm respectively) and no servo!

finially got all the bits for my rear coilovers, assebled and fitted them in no time!

they are bilstein B6 dampers with a mk2 escort coilover kit, 14" 120lb springs. its a bit high at the moment but i anticipate it will drop 20-40 mm when the springs have bedded in. looks a bit weird atm!

need to insure it now to get all the new bits run in then i can reset the rideheights when its all settled.

yeh i am actually! I'm gonna insure it at the end of the month and run to and from work a couple of times to bed everything in i think

i haven't done anything on it for a couple of months, haven't been at home.

its un fair to judge the hight currently because it hasnt moved more than 10ft for the past 2months and needs to bed in before i can re adjust it all.

thats very cool what finish is your wheels spray painy? powder coating? and have you got weight limits in your class? and it lok svery clean and nice mate

there isnt currently a weight limit but will be next year i think of about 720kg. i think once my cage is in and everything else is done it should be over that

so you have to be over that weight ?

and can you go to a diferant class if you lighten it or can you stay in the current one? as you already know there is alot more lightening to be had there, them wheels look very smooth top job and good luck in the future mate

i dont think there is a weight limit for each class, just one general minimum limit. aslong as your bang on or over the limit its fine

o ok mate erm.. theres a guy on www.theminiforum.com and hes done EVERYTHING to his car to lighten it and it weighs something like 400kg so is he I'm a differant challenge thing than you (sorry for the questions I'm just curious as I'm planning on auto testing the square and would like to know what to do about weights before i run at the car with a grinder lol)

theres no weight limit for autotesting like, I'm building the car to go stage rallying which is where the weight limits come into play. i do the autotest series for practice more than anything

the car has still got the normal handbrake in which works on cables.

well it passed! tester even commented that it was "mint"

glad to hear it went through. Its great when a tester say's " Yeh it was sound".

driven it today and have to say I'm well happy. handling is so mint its unbelieveable.
