I have exactly the same problem as you! I bought some wheels off a guy on here, which are fine, all straight etc, fit properly. But since I had them, and new tyres, put on to my car I get vibrating when accelertating around 50-60, and then when braking back down through those speeds. It's very annoying!

So far I've had my wheels rebalanced three times, just had my car lowered so will be getting tracking done imminently.

Please let me know if you find a solution to this problem!

Did anyone acknowledge what I said about the disc retaining screw if snapped can go behind the disc and cause the disc and wheel to not sit flush causing wheel wobble and brake judder

Would that make it specific to speeds of around 50-60 mph though?

When at certain speeds it will be more noticeable. I had it happen to me and could drive through ie build up the speed and once past the speed it happens at its fine until I come on the brakes

So what your saying is that when the wheel is off. That it would be possible to turn the disc, bearing in mind you would need to have used enough force to push back the brake piston first to allow lateral movement, thus allowing the snapped thread to end up behind the disc.....

Now in my experience the gap between pads and disc is probably <0.5 mm allowing for no lateral disc movement whatsoever unless forced. Also you would need to turn the disk back to allow the bolt holes to re-align or the wheel isnt going on anyway.

You would also notice the sudden change in brake pedal travel due to the pads being pushed off the face of the disc by the uneven travel.

As long as the piston is nice and free the disc should be able to move enough just to go over the small amount left in there it only needs to be a few mm to effect anything and if turned enough the holes will then line up anyway bearing in mind tyre fitters are usually in a hurry so don't tend to take note. I've seen it happen a few times so I know it does happen its a possibility that can be overlooked just trying to help with my past experiences

To be honest you can easily rotate the disc if the retaining screw is broken, even if it is pretending from the drive flange face, causing disc run out an brake vibration and general vibration.

I had this problem, ended up changing pads, retaining screws, new front bolts and new front tyres. Checked the pressure for fronts aswell and made sure they were the right way around!! (rotationals)

One of these fixed my problem. Which one i'll never know :p

UPDATE: just got my car back from the garage they haven't replaced the inner track rod ends as they say they are now ok. They cleaned up the brakes to eliminate that problem and balanced all wheels and also done the wheel alignment. They now say it could be a gearbox problem? Something about diffs? Does that sound viable? Thanks Lewis
