Can I ask what the deal is with the inlet manifold for the bike carbs? Is it the one off the AFH?

It'll be interesting to know how that engine runs - 600s and a lumpy cam, should still be pretty lively! You didn't think to smuggle ABD internals in, though..?

This might sound daft but the manifold that's on the 16v is designed for the AFH (1.4 16v) head. The one you can see on the original 8v was made for thew 8v head.

One thing I do like is that with this exhaust manifold its a hell of a lot easier to get it all out in 1 go.

First time its been in the bay for many years.

Some might notice that it no longer has bike carbs.... and there is a reason for this. Unfortunately I have run out of time to try and get it properly running over this side of the pond. So she is being picked up from home and delivered to our place state side where I can finish all the bits off.

I do have some plans for the trusty 8v engine. I really want to put a set of webbers on. I don't know why and maybe a different cam. so these are something I may try and sort out! :)

Anyway next stages for Huyi is to get her all packed up ready for her travels! :)

Anyway.. got these yesterday

Goodyear Vector 4 Season. All season tyres with Winter tyre classification. They have had very good reviews so hopefully they will see me through the snow and ice.

Given how factory fresh your car looks, folks in the states are going to be thinking VW had to go back a lot of years to find a design to sell that honestly meets emission regs!

Really been meaning to get Huyi all sorted for weeks but I've just been lacking motivation. However I did the main brunt of the work today not that there has been much to do.

Classic Cars magazine. The write-up isn't about your car, they've just used the photo, and let's face it, it's a fine example!

It's a flawed write-up about 'largely unknown stacklight GT with Pierburg fuel injection' which was probably largely unknown because we didn't get them in Britain... Nice to see all the same.

I was tagged by a mate who appreciates mine, RAC bod with an RS4, i pointed out in a post it was your S and gave your first name as the owner, plus an update on how my new one's getting on.

Right a bit of an update is over due me thinks.

Last August I noticed some rust under the sill trims.. Luckily is was only light surface stuff where there was a thin covering of paint. So after crying for a while this lovely you man call Vic came and helped me out with a fresh coat of green..

Got her all back together ready for her to go on a small journey

I also boxed up all of her bits and bobs

Next stop the USA!

And that was on the 31st Dec 2015. The next time I saw her was the 22nd Feb 2016 in Pottstown, PA USA. Home of Orchid Euro who shipped her.

As you can't ship it with liquids then I had to purchase some new oil, this is harder than it sounds in the US. They use crappy mineral oil and change it every 3,000 miles.... seriously they do that. For European cars over here they have the standard goodish quality oil you find in Halfords and label it 'For European Cars'. To get some really good stuff I headed to Summit racing and ordered some Red Line 5-40

Yep that is her new number plate.... and of course you need a car to put it on...

So she is now legally here!

I totally agree... getting a car temporarily over here is easy it just the money aspect really.

Now I'm not sure I agree with the US plate thing....
