Reason i asked was Higgo said you where running a R1 fuel pump. Must be mixed up with someone else, or i just mis-heard lol.

Just realised how cheap that one is, compared to a facet. any difference? Looks the same all but the stickers lol.

Made a plate up for the aerial hole

This will be welded in place and then covered with a small bit of filler

Got the replacement sill in place

Currently being held on with rivets to hold in in place whilst its spot welded.

And I started to clear off all the under seal on the front arches :)

picked up some gauges as well

2 weeks off now so I might start sorting and cleaning stuff that's in the garage.

Where you get them gauges from mark?

Also, How are you going to run the oil temp and pressure?

Will be running a sandwich plate between the oil filter and the block and run both the senders from that.

Didn't think you could get the quarter panels anymore, i got mine old stock from a show a couple of years ago. I think i also checked with my parts department a while back and they ordered them but they never came so presumeably obsolete Think they were fibbing

Well I haven't got to the other side yet! :-)

Well I wasn't holding out any luck but the Parts Guys at Listers VW in Stratford where great and it turned up in 3/4 days I was shocked. They did say it was on back order so I was expecting it to take months not days. But it makes life so much easier as we can now take the panel off and deal with all the rusts underneath.

First work on the car in 2011!

Took the brake callipers off and they are going to be refurbished and re-painted

Continued to clean the gunk off the inside of the wings

The sill repair has been welded in

and the replacement sill has been clamped on ready for welding next week

Looking rather sorry for it's self

Also we took the drivers rear glass out so we can start to take off the rear quarter panel

Sorry if this has already been answered lol, i had a good look but couldnt see anything near where you fitted it.

The stainless 4 branch, did you have any problems fitting it and the ARB?

I've seen that the stainless AFH exhaust mani wont fit as it fouls the ARB, yet you don't seem to have had a problem? unless I've missed it lol.

You have to at least have G-Laderseite ARB block which pull the ARB forward and even with those fitted I had to space them down few mm to clear the exhaust. :)

Reason i'm asking is because one came in my scirocco, with no wires going to it etc and just wondered where the usual place was to get a pressure signal from.

Yes you need the senders but you just use standard VDO senders which you can pick up. I've already got a sandwich plate I just have to see about black and exhaust manifold clearance.

Yeah same plate. Its about 5-10mm.

You have just saved me worrying about having to get a subframe, then having sump clearing problems

There a bugger, but it saves me said £500 which i really don't have haha.

how much was your rollcage and where did you get it from ??

I got it off eBay from Safety Devices as I believe it was a clearance thing. But I think they are still available from them.

These gauges are from an Audi 80 quattro (B3 chassis), from which you can also get the senders off. I have the same fitted in my mk2.

Car went up on the jig today. Mike fought with the sill to get it right before welding. The sill I have is a replacement panel which is designed to fit over the existing sill. So he has had to shrink it down to fit. When they say if you want a decent fit then buy original.. they are not lying! :)

Also my suit material turned up today!

A really productive day today!

Started by drilling out all the spot welds and then cutting the pillar.. being careful not to cut all the way though!

Marked up the rear pillar

And cut it..

Followed the panel all the way down to the bottom

Mike, welded the Ariel hole and did some sanding and smoothing

Thats it now for 2 weeks as I'm doing the rolling road day, but I'm going to try and start my speaker pods!

Fair play Mark- not many people would put a grinder through their rear quarter!

Well realistically I don't think I have a completion date. I wanted to get it done by the start of may but as thats only 12 weeks away and the interior will take 2 and rebuilding will take 2/4+ weeks then there is no chance that the body work will be done. So I'm hoping that the Polo show will be its unveiling! :)

There's always the best intention to stick to a completion date but it hardly ever happens unless it's realistic. I recon you'll do it for polo show. There's no way i'm setting a date for Goldie

Don't use scary numbers like that

I'm aiming for the trackday, but as said, completion dates come and go lol.

I reckon you could have it done for the trackday, who needs a completed interior and tasty paintwork

There's some proper graft going into this. I like the thoroughness and attention to detail.

It might just be enough to persuade me to get back on with mine after payday.
