do you know much about the history of this car? I ask because when i were a young whipper-snapper (three years ago) there was a black coupé for sale across the road from me with the first part of the reg was G757 and I'm pretty sure this is it. anyway I waited until the first pay check of my first job then got home ran over the road to throw my money at the owner in exchange for the keys and it was gone! I then found it in the hands of a chap slightly older than me who lived about a mile away from me and gave up on it as I had my bready by then and I haven't seen it in a bloody long time. I'm pretty sure your car is the one that got away.

Cheers guys.. It is turning into a bit of a mission. I wasn't expecting it to turn out like this but it is fun doing the work on it even though I have found out that I can't weld so save my life! :)

I guess you are talking about the black mk2. Well its a LHD import from Spain and it came into the country in 1996 and that's all I know! :)

After tidying the garage out a bit yesterday I did some more work on the speaker pods

The rest of my Interior should be back to me within 3-4weeks! :)

Started on the other speaker pod

Hope to get both of them finished this weekend so I can get them to the trimmers with the rest of my interior

nice i'm interested in how these are constructed. I fitted some plastic pods to mine and they are a bit crap... maybe I should do some fibreglassing like you have behind them and seal properly.. anyway good work keep it up :)

I just googled it and followed the guide :) I really didn't need to cut the door pods in half but you live and learn.

covered the other speaker pod

..and then brushed on a load of fibreglass resin.

While that one dried I got the body filler out..

.. and covered the other speaker pod.

This was sanded smoothed and primed.

They will get a final coat in mat back and I'll then have to work out how to rejoin the rest of the door pod. I'll hopefully get that done this week and drop them off at the trimmers.

Picked this up at Stonor.. I thought it was rather apt.

Not quite... I was a bit worried about using it but then I realised that it will all be covered anyway :)

Just remembered that I should really work on my dial pod!

Speaker pods now finished ready for trimming

Started on my dial pod but realised the pods that I had were too big. :(

Picked up some centre caps for my BBS Mahle wheels

Well the drivers rear quarter has finally been welded on!

first the new panel was cut to match the existing panel

we test fitted the lights to make sure it all looked ok

I then double sided spot welded it on :)

And Mike went round and mig welded the panels together.

So there you go.. after months of messing with this arch its finally done and we can now move round to the other side. Luckily there is only a bit of the arch lip to be rebuild and the front sill by the jacking point needs repairing. So that should be a rather quick job!

Started to grid down the welds on the panel

took the door off so Mike could make a plate for the bottom corner

Picked up some Toyo R888's to replace the Kumho's

absolutely amazing work, true dedication.

The pic of the silver mk2 on the bbs! Yummy!

Love the speaker pods. How much did all the materials cost? I really want a set of speakers pods for my Mk2.
