Not bad for the first attempt :)

Brilliant effort at the concours mate! I love the penalties for bringing it on a trailer! Awesome idea

Well done. I thought those things were judged on how standard they are and anal things like stickers etc, but yours has done well even being far from stock

That's a cool bit of history there Mark. I would kill to have some replicas made of my cars dealer plates as they were lost when the first owner sold the car as it had a private plate on it from new (TSD 996). I do actually know of a G reg Polo Saloon that was sold by the same dealer a few months before mine, I really need to get in touch with the guy as his still has the dealer plates and window sticker. I would love to own TSD 996 too.

as with your ranger matt mine had a private plate DB 3000 and was removed ten years later but keeping it related to Mark and on topic, Mark's LHD GT used to live across the road from me and I had just got my money together to buy it and I went to see if it was still for sale, it wasn't it had been sold across town. I hankered after it for a while then saw it had disappeared then Mark put up a thread on here with it. I was happy it went to a good home and would receive the attention she required but MARK YOU STOLE MY CAR! when can I buy it back off you?

cheers :-) I entered custom concourse so it's allowed to be none original.

Ah right, I see. Well done. How did you place? Thats very nearly top marks, so you cant have been too far from a trophy

As an aside, how was your paint done; 2K or celly with clear?

I think I was in 3rd... Vic with his derby got 118 and the winner with a Lupo got 119. So I was very cuffed! :) So just need to work on som of the outside trim and I need to tart up the engine bay a bit but that will be all for next year now :)

I believe it is 2pack..

So what was wrong with you exterior trim? just not enough OEM additionals? orrr?

I need to re-jig the front valance cover and the bumpers are 20+ years old so have a couple of knocks and scrapes on them.. that's it really... whether I do them or not I'm not sure.

Ahh i see, so only reallllllly small things. For character i'd be tempted to leave them, just as a 'this is it like it or lump it' kinda thing.

I dont see how you can even compete against a lupo? The lupo is far newer and therefore much easier to concourse, whereas your polo has had so much work put into it to get it to this standard!

Ita obviously not a fair competition!

That concourse sheet has so many issues built in to it I wouldn't worry (matching set of 5 tyres? isn't a mint original spare even better than some brand new one?)

Anyway, your car is way nicer than any concourse Lupo and it will have taken much more work to make it so. Don't go trophy hunting, it's only a Polo so you'll never win due to judges opinions etc.

There are some wires hanging down behind your head unit by the way :p
