Regarding bodies, just for hooning around carbs are fine, even reasonably good on fuel compared to the likes of fixed Venturi carbs,

Read a massive build on a ford forum, bloke had mappable ignition and carbs, 173hp, spent nearly £2000 on a decent ITB setup, got 176hp, and to be honest the whole range wasn't a great deal better, he said driving it was barely noticeable, I suppose you get the adaptability if was a daily or something though, and more accurate fuelling and that, but IMO carbs will work well enough to rule out spending however much more money.

Yeah I totally agree. Its more of a would be nice to... rather than it would be money well spent. Doesn't stop the itch for me to give it a go though. :-D

Exactly - dont get me wrong they're more than ideal in every way, and obviously can be done a lot cheaper using bike bodies and a home brew mani and that, but you can get the fuelling pretty good on carbs - was good enough for bikes for years and years, I'd imagine the injection stuff on them now is partly to do with emissions control, but who knows.

Will be interested to follow this - just going to swap your AFH bottom for the ARC are you? No other engine work? Suppose you won't be going to Southam again for setup this time since the move?

I'll probably do a bit of a review of the mappable stuff when it's sorted, just need to work out how I'm going to set it up, whether to do myself on the road, or do some on road then verify on a rolling road, or just get a RR to do it all.

As technically ill have 88 boxes to fill with values iirc! Which maybe very time consuming and £££ at a RR

Yep.. just swapping the bottom ends over but doing the drilling for the head bolts and the like.

I might still head down to Southam still as they did a top notch job last time and I don't know anyone local up in derby who I trust to do the job.

No pushrods Joe, just hydraulically tensioned roller rockers. Has over head cams which are in the cam cover (which is then a cam carrier on that engine).

Also has VVT, though Mark Isn't using that head. I am, just without the VVT and with the same carbs Mark's using.

Carbd 1.6 AFH is an excellent engine Mark, and it'll look as good as it works.

Nice! I haven't seen a setup like that before! When i saw rockers i assumed pushrods right away! Living and learning! Thank you for the great info!

^^That's because you Americans are 30 years behind engineering wise, still struggling for 20bhp from an 8 liter engine

Well it will be a couple of months before I get the engine in there plus there is some other bits and bobs I want doing. but It will get there :)

I've sent the relay roller off to be drilled out... except they couldn't do it, nothing would touch it. This has been reported by by a few people where as others have said they had no problem! So mine will be undergoing a process called Wire Erosion... which I had never heard of before!

Also been building up the speaker pods

Can't wait to get these in! I do need to look for a new headunit though. After one with a rear USB and bluetooth :)

Umm I'm not sure of the speck they are Focal 130CA 's I think.

And I think I paid about 70-80 for them... but really don't quote me on that!

Nope its lived all its life up in the Midlands, well Kidderminster, Loughborough, Norwich, 3 weeks in Plymouth, Stourbridge, Leamington, Kenilworth and now Derby :)
