Yep.. just swapping the bottom ends over but doing the drilling for the head bolts and the like.

I might still head down to Southam still as they did a top notch job last time and I don't know anyone local up in derby who I trust to do the job.

Anyone know where I can get some main and rod bearing shells and a set of thrust washers? Or are these VW only?

They don't need to be spiral fluted but it helps

And it is a standard size it's classed as m11 course we have that size at work

Ad you can buy sets off eBay of that size for less than a tenner

I'm going to be drilling the headbolt holes on my block too now I'm using a BCB block and il also be maching inside to fit the oil jets from an avy

And redrilling some of the sump bolt holes in the correct place for the mk3 shallow sump

More parts picked up

Shells, Rod Bolts, thrust washers.

Bore has been checked on the block and its OK. The machine shop did say the Pistons where worn to their limit. Not too sure what that means but the black material on the side of the piston is worn down as you can see in the picture above. Will speak to them next week. But I've been looking for new Pistons just to see how much they cost. VW - £140 each, Unipart £70 each but they can't get them another place is going to phone me Monday.

Though about using AFH Pistons... not too sure what effect using these will have. I know it will up the compression ratio... but that's it! :)

And them Glyco bearings aren't OEM they are only OE equivalent and I kept forgetting to look for the part numbers been so busy with other bits this week

These were the only ones GSF offered but if you could find those numbers out I'll see what they say! :)

Yeah I've seen Redman sells them.. 70 each... I've asked about the ARC ones, but I think I like the idea of the AFH pistons.. :) I Think...

Fitted the replacement alternator which was a pain due to having to drill out the mounting on the alternator to M10 for the bolt.

Was just about to start it and the fuel pump went!

But have just purchased a CBR600 fuel pump so I can loose the filter King Regulator/Filter and pump and just run an inline filter. Should make it look a bit tidier :)

Also fitted up the speaker pod :)

Stripped my avy other night and all seemed good. Was you are middle bearing cap a bitch to come out ? lol

I have the part no's for the actual Kolbenschmidt main bearings and thrust washers now mate

I went through my catalogue of receipts and found them then checked online and they are still available

But doesn't say what make so I ordered them and they turned up today

All legit Kolbenschmidt OEM and came in at £31.59 together after 10% discount

So not only are they better OEM than the Glyco ones but they come in cheaper too lol

should fit nicely in the hole in the wing

just use the fuel pump to wash the windows too! 2 birds.. 1 stone :-D

yep in there.. hopefully I can make a nice install so I can put the cover back on with just the pipes sticking through :)

If your willing to spend a little more time .. Could run up chassis leg etc or inner wing :)

my fuel pump is attatched underneath my carbs lol shame the 1st one is shagged. 2nd looks like a biggun

I've temporally fitted it using cable ties. Wanted to make sure it worked before making a mount for it..

Also I finally got her running!! :) I won't be leaving her hibernating for 4 months again, as it was a total pain to get her started!
