Will do but I don't think I will.. they really suit the car :)

Have picked up a GT gearbox with a bolt on crown wheel which means I can fit a LSD. Whenever I get around to buying one! :)

But I've been thinking about gear ratios. I've currently got a GT box fitted and its a very short ratio box making the car very nippy but I'm thinking of swapping it out for a longer ratio one from a normal 1.3 ( 8P)

this should give me more speed and also better cruising comfort on the motorway! :)

Can I use the final drive from the GT box put it in my 8-P box so I can fit a LSD later to the 8-P ?

Put the bloody cam cover on!

Haha.. I've been dying too but I'm waiting till the engine is done.. should be ready for 2016! :)

Ugh more weight mate!

Yep... but

weight > bleeding ears! :)

There is a boom around the 3-4k rev range that's annoying so I'm trying to sort that out :)

You realise a camcover will not give you extra bhp haha stop being a mong!! Lol

It does... :aggressive:

its just it will look like I've actually done something when I fit the 1.6 :-D Its more symbolic than anything! :)

Looking good, love the gear gaitor! Glad your liking the wheels, still got the same tyres? I found they handled really well!

  • Author

tar!

Noting much has changed since I last updated still waiting to get the new engine built up. Trying to work out things that would be worth doing whilst it apart.. P&P head, AFH pistons etc..

Parts have started to arrive

Nice new set of AFH pistons!

IMAG0030_1.jpg

More next week hopefully! :)

are they standard AFH ones just aftermarket ones

how much did they set you back if you don't mind saying just curious as to how much they are

Yeah me too haha

  • Author

Well they are standard AFH pistons (I think!) but not from VW. 70 pounds each.

Not sure if I'm going to use them yet. As I think it might make the compression too high. Might skim them down or something.. we will see :)

If you want to sell them I could be interested..although, arn't you using an AVY block too?

  • Author

Cool I'll let you know. Yes i'm using a full AVY (well ARC) bottom end.
