I've been fretting about a tapping noise coming from the head. It turns out that the Dizzy has shat its self. So that has been fixed and it is heading over to Southam Mini and Metro for its final tuning on Saturday. I can then give it some Beans!!!! :)
Not quite so good was that someone opened their car door on my passenger door and took a small chip out.
So I took it to the only place in Europe which is certified by 12 manufactures including Ferrari, Aston and McLaren :)

done over 1000miles on the new engine now so took her to have her fuelling checked and am happy to say that it was all ok. She makes a good 145bhp.

not quite so good is one or 2 of the tappets have gone and make a racket at high revs. So I'll be sourcing a full set and having them replaced, however they are a pain to source!

Awsome! Love this car. Can't wait to have a nose the paint! Wheels look rad !

Top work!

just clean the tappets.. i had to do all mine on the exhaust side

Cheers... :) I need to have some work on the drivers side as well. but that will be closer to Christmas. Going to refit the side rubbing strips and also try to get the pinstip back on. Yeah the wheels are cool! :) they need to be refurbished but they will be staying that colour!

Top work!

Cheers... you driving round in a mk4 saloon now?

Will get them to have a look at them before swapping them out. Keep the revs under 4k and they are fine but as soon as you get in the high rev range they just tap their head off. It might just be an excuse to fit some cams :-D

do them yourself you lazy sod! haha!

Well those on instagranny will see that I've been doing some work on Huyi.

I've had a noise coming from the box when the clutch when the its not engaged. I've also wanted to make a bit more clearance between the engine block and the starter motor and I wanted to adjust the metal plate that site between the engine and gearbox

So this was borrowed from Vic:

IMG_20140920_194555.jpg

I've never used one before as I've always just removed the engine so I thought I would give it a go. I'm sure it is much eaiser and quicker than taking the engine out but I just couldn't get on with it.

Soooo...

IMG_20140921_130022.jpg

Gearbox plate

IMG_20140921_120903.jpg

This is the ARC/AYY plate rather than the mk2/3 one. So as you can see it doesn't really work with the lower cover

IMG_20140921_120926.jpg

so some cutting later

IMG_20140921_131423.jpg

As for the starter motor it was fine on the AFH block but the AVY/ARC one must be a thicker/different casting so its just a bit close for my liking. Rotating the starter give more clearance so some additioal holes where drilled and counter sunk

IMG_20140920_134813.jpg

this does has the side effect of that one mount doesn't clearance for the standard bolt and nut. SO I'm currently running a smaller bolt and nut.

IMG_20140921_185647.jpg

next time its off I'm going to counter sink the hole

Also as I'm going to replace all the tappets I thought it would be rude not to do something with the cams..

IMG_20140926_205443.jpg

So these will be heading off to Piper.

Oh and Huyi was on TV

IMG_20140923_222920.jpg

I bought one of those engine steady bars about 7 years ago, to do a clutch change on the Fiesta I had at the time, It's been sat in the corner of the room not used it yet !

Sorry the support beam didn't help Mark, it was so useful when I did mine. At least you got it sorted. Was the release bearing shagged or gearbox bearings?
