A few updates..

Headed out to Stanford Hall.. and Huyi met another family member

Started to mock up the brakes and suspension as well.

The type of shoulder bolts you need to fit the Vauxhall calipers

The pad carrier fouled the strut a bit which you can see circled

So just needed to tickle them a bit

All built up together with some new bump stops mounts and hubs

now to break them all back down and get them blasted.. :)

Mark, is the vauxhall converson with a 22m mster cylinder and that spacer you had made?

I have tried my Vauxhall conversion twice but cant get a biting point despite spending whats probbaly adds up to about 48 hours of real time bleeding an I think its because of the required additional volume.

When i put the VW11's back on i get a great biting point bake pedal immediately.

This is with goodridge hoses.

Ill follow here to see how the conversion goes.

Yes I've got the 22mm cylinder and the spacer which is needed for the rear disk conversion I'm running. I've also got the smallest piston sized front Vauxhall calipers that I could find which i think is 52mm. So I'm hoping while it may make for a longer pedal it won't be too bad.

More stuff got delivered the weekend :)

will you be going retro rides gathering this year? if I can get my manifold sorted I will be, be nice to have a nose around another AFH install

My girling 54's don't have a too long a pedal, neither do the vauxhall ones I run either. At least I haven't noticed a huge difference. Kudos for the road trip too. Something I still really want to do myself.

Been buying stuff for the front brake and H&R suspension setup as well as trying to refurbish some struts :)

also picked this up to have a go at putting in my own bearings.

Been looking at brake pads and I really want some DS2500's as thats what I'm currently running ad I really rate them. However I can only find them for the Turbo. Not knowing if they are the same and not wanting to spend £130 on pads that don't fit I thought I would find the cheapest set I could to try them out.#

No they don't fit.

So I have the option of picking some other pads or stick with the current 239mm VWII setup... going to have a think!

Yeah saw the DS3000's but they need to get some heat in them for them to work so not to great for road use.

Yeah... bit of a rash decision but the right one for me I think. I have 2 sets of 13's, the standard hocks and a set of BBS Mahles that I really would like to keep and fit on the car everynow and then. Also 14 inch tyres are harder to come by in the size I need and track tyres are a no no. So it makes sense to stick with the VWII's :)

Been buying some bits and bobs.

First packaged turned up today. 7 row 235mm oil cooler with thermostatic sandwich plate.

Got some new bits and bobs today.

New alternator. Mine has stated to make a racket

going to spend some time and try and work out if there is any way to fit the Mk2/2f crankshaft pulley rather than the 6 rib AVY one. As it really would free up a lot of space near the chassis leg.

Were did you get the oil cooler from and how much? I need one for the turbo :) I saw Eric French fitted a v pulley to his 16v as he also had a trigger wheel for his nodiz on thier looked cool, might be worth having a look, congrats on the mag feature 👍

Finally finished refurbishing the struts.

Used the after market brake disc shields and painted them up as they seemed to be thicker and more study. :)

I've been trying to find the mag but seems impossible around my way to get :(

Can you not buy the dust covers from VW still ? I bought some a couple of years back they came black but are still in the wrapping at home.
