I've been trying to find the mag but seems impossible around my way to get :(

Can you not buy the dust covers from VW still ? I bought some a couple of years back they came black but are still in the wrapping at home.

yeah I had trouble. Its the Bigger WH Smiths that stock it for me

try searching here http://seymour.magzene.com/as this is the distibuter

Not any more they are no longer available. I got some 2+ years ago and they struggled to get one side. So I've still got those and just used the after market ones :)

Where were the after market ones from?

You should be able to get the from VW Heritage and the VW classic line. Or there are some on ebay.de

Have you got a link to the aftermarket brake dust shields please Mark?

Cheers Mark, I've ordered one direct from Retro Cars :)

Jake, do you have a link please? Can't find them on VW heritage

If you put the part numbers into their search it should come up. I can post up the part numbers tonight :)

If you could please. I thought I'd found them on the ebay listing, but maybe not :?

Nothing is coming up when I search in the Part No. search box or the key word field :-/

I am now! Top man.

Oh, and do you have 256 brakes? do These fit around them?

  • Author

They do fit around 256 fine. But I am now sticking with 239's... :sorry:

How come?

How come?

Being practical :(

With the 256's I can only run 14 inch wheels. And I have my 13 inch Mahle's that I love and I like to be able to stick on the original Hocks too. Also on a road trip I don't want to limit myself to 1 size of 14's so I think 13's might be better and they are definitely easier to get.. well kinda.

Got the front struts all build up

quite impressed with how they came out. All new bumpstops, top mounts and bearings

Did the bearing press tool thing work then? The struts look really good :)

I know what you mean with restricting wheel choice. I have some 4 spoke Revos that I'd love to put on but the 256s are obviously too big. Stopping power combined with the rear discs is nice to have though ;)

Also started to look at roof boxes for the road trip

Thinking it has to be a Kamei

If you were so inclined, having it painted the same colour as the mk2 would be cool.

Or this for giggles:
