On the look out for new look Beetle

Yes I'm expecting to cop a load of flack on here and no I'm not turning gay and no I'm not selling the Polo its I'm on the look out for something different to use as my daily to and from work . I was on the look out for a classic bug for a number of months and to be honest i came to the conclusion that you will need to spend 3k or so for an average one that will need some attention and also practicality comes to mind.

So here i am on the look out for an early new look beetle and poss taking it down the retro look , I'm assuming as it was built on the mk 4 golf platform then it will be the same problems that will arise ? or is there anything else that i will need to look into ?
