Yeahh man, just copy others fuck it

Seems to be the way on here these days

Need more local car friends to go out with and actually use the thing, spends most its time doing fuck all so no real interest for doing something new lol

I'm local.

ish ol

This is the problem with starting a build 4 years ago and never finishing it. A 1.6 on bike carbs was rare 4 years ago. Now not so

And I'm with you there Nick. I don't have car 'Fwends' hell most of my friends choose not to drive, probably to the benefit of us all!

How do you think I feel? I was running bike carbs in '04 and when I joined here most people laughed and thought I was a weirdo..

Then I was running a 1.6 16v version of a bike carbd AFH in '07, a full AFH stroked to 1.6 litres instead of merely an engine with the wrong head on it. Again no sign of it ever being done before like this.

And again, it didn't stay unique for long.

So now, as I'm, a static cammed 1.6 16v based on the later design - iron block, upsquirters, big compression, roller rockers, another unique lump using not a single AFH component.. And this time the only giveaways being the summary of it's main components so it remains unique! :smirk:

You should right a book mikey, i'd read it. Oh wait, books are shit.

Wasn't the bike carbs that caused that!

I pretty much have, Max - on here!

True that Andy, just thought i'd mention it anyway..

You shouldn't write a book max.

Because you can't write

Lol, this went a bit off topic, but it's way better then i thought it would be.

So, if I were to swap pistons for say ones from a 1.4 (aex or apq) would it still be the same capacity? As I don't imagine them being any taller.

Also, onto bike carbs. Are they an option with forced induction? As I haven't seen much done in this direction on the net, most use Renault 5 carbs. Or are ITB's more realistic, and are the gains worth it?

I know it's a stupid thing to do as its cheaper and easier to get a bigger engine. But since when has that ever stopped anyone? :)

Thanks guys

R5 carb would be the easiest budget way to go with boost, it will do the job well enough and are easy enough to setup with plenty of info on the net

bike carbs can be done but would be a bit more involved. Plenty have spoken about boosting them on here but talk is cheap

Would be interesting to see someone actually do it tho and compare the results to single carb'd setups

looking at the ignition setup on my Ren I can't help but think it wouldn't be too difficult to use that on a polo too

Bike carbs can be done.

As I said APQ questions raise the CR iirc

questions = pistons?

I thought it was Max you said that couldn't write?!

Yeah I'm testing you guys

Makes me laugh people who think G40's are boring...obviously never been in one driven in anger  In comparison N/A valvers just can't pull the skin of a rice pudding i'm afraid.

If you wanna be different, then overbore the 1.6 bottom end, get custom pistons, add boost and then start to think about a smirk

Makes me laugh people who think polos are fast lol
