Black Mk2 Golf GTI - 3dr, black, Small bumper, high spec. Must see!

Hi there, cheers for looking. My plan was to keep this golf in the very long term as it is the exact spec I wanted, but my circumstances have changed and now I am not actually staying in the country for the summer and possibly for longer. So unfortunately it has to go. This is a pleasure to own and gets lots of complements. The ideal car for the summer, this is the best Mk2 I have driven, and the bodywork is in great condition, please take the time to read the ad fully.

Good bits:

· Electric widows

· Central locking

· Power steering

· Fully working MFA

· Full 5 stud VR6 Hubs (288mm brakes)

· Rear MK4 callipers

· K&N induction kit

· Fully recently serviced – Including new drive belts

· New Dizzy / cap + leads

· Sunroof does not leak, works perfectly & wind deflector pops up as it should

· Handbrake works amazingly

· Bumpers, arches and all exterior trim in perfect condition

· Perfect 4-lamp GTI grille with genuine perfect condition lamps

· Underneath the car is completely solid, with NO RUST & sills are great

· The paint is in good with no peeling or fading anywhere, although could do with a deep clean & polish

· Coilover suspension all round

· Lenso BSX 16x8& 16x9 in perfect good condition, (195.45.16 & 195.50.16 Perelli’s with lots of tread left)

· Has a full 2” straight through system, through middle box, which gives it a lovely rumble and sounds great top end, but is not over the top and is quiet on motorways & does not drone or knock at all. Nice and subtle

· Roof lining is perfect condition and not sagging

The bodywork is good, although there are one or two small scratches, and a couple TINY bits of surface rust (smaller than a coin), but the paint is good and as a whole the shell is very solid. There is NO RUST anywhere underneath, in the spare wheel bay or around filler cap (see pics). A few stone chips on the front of the bonnet. Still has the original stickers from VW (see pic) showing the optional extras and codes.

The engine and gearbox are good. It starts every time on the button. The oil temp runs at about 92… Can go up to 98 with spirited driving or sat in traffic, but I have never seen it in triple figures. There are NO CRUNCHES into any of the gears & the box is all good with no wines. The engine pulls very well all through the gears, with no flats spots. I have done mostly motorway miles so have not had a chance to really enjoy it. The MFA reads about 53 mpg on a long run, but in real terms I believe this is just over 40. But as with any car, if you drive fast all the time it does like a drink.

Bad bits:

· Water temp gauge does not work; my guess is the sensor is knackered, I rely on the oil temp, as it’s a better indicator of real engine temp.

· Washer jets do not squirt – The pump is fine, I believe the pipes may be blocked

· Gear linkage bushing could do with changing, as the gear selection is a little sloppy, but this is the case with most mk2’s and its fine once you are used to it

· Needs a new rear badge

· Fog light switch does not work – I believe this is a simple wiring issue

· Wheels sometimes scrub if you go over a big bump or load the back, this can be solved by slightly adjusting the ride height, or fitting camber shims (as a result of the above, there are marks on the sidewalls of the rear tyres)

· There is a wobble at about 65mph from the front left wheel, it needs to be rebalanced

· Rear doorcard is ripped

· Few marks on front seats

-All small, inexpensive things to sort basically

Overall this is a great Mk2 and has been well looked after, which shows. I highly recommend viewing of the car to see the great condition first hand, it really looks lovely in the flesh, but as with any old car it is not perfect so please don’t expect flawless paint. The bad bits can be sorted cheaply with a weekends work, the mileage may go up, but not very much. The car is in very good condition, and considering the long MOT, wheels, brakes, hubs and suspension this is priced very well.
