COMMERSH.

Featured Replies

Just picked up this rare little beast to replace my daily mk3 Golf GTI last week. It's not my first polo but it is my first standard polo, and coming from a string of modified Golfs with tight, mega responsive handling it was quite a shock at first. Everything felt very vague and kind of worrying for the first few days but now I'm used to it I love it 8-)

Got it simply because I don't need a big 2 litre engine to cart me around all the short journeys I regularly do, and thought it would most likely work out cheaper to run. Despite everyone I told trying to convince me that it was a bad move, in the week that I've had it I've used a third of the fuel I would have done in the mk3 Golf! Got a refund from swapping my car insurance over too! The 1 litre is a nippy little bugger and the bodywork's got awesome patina from being used as someones workhorse for years :-D I don't plan on removing that patina whatsoever.

Got loads of other plans for it and I can now explore the rest of this forum rather than being restricted to the engine section  Components to fab up some coilovers are already on the way, as is another tailgate due to the fact someone drove into the back of the current one

I am also pleased to say there will be no stickers and no intentional rusting found in this thread :-D

Hopefully the updates will come in thick and fast, and your comments and advice will be appreciated along the way!

Cheers,

Arun

I can now see why people can get so addicted to these things 8-) So yeah it's more than likely the other plans will come to be too  Fortunately the cheapness to run should cancel out the costs of modifying it compared to my other car.

Certainly not changing the engine though because I may as well have not bought it otherwise!

Not as long as this engine is running  Can't fault it really!

Never had a 1.0 but the 1.3 was pretty sweet tbh, nippier than ud expect and ran sweet as a nut no matter what shit i gave it.

Josh should be over soon lad  Nah got the van from a guy in Clifton up your way, although he did get it from Donny. Did you come across the old advert from 2011 for it by the guy from Donny? I did and it looks really clean back then!

Olly, the cab got sold ages ago cos I attempted to repair the rear window frame and caused more damage than I fixed  FUCK soft tops

Mk3 van? That's got to be rarer than a Mk2 van - good catch!
